Nothing fancy but a well made blade. It took a fine edge and delivered a great shave.

Hefty, solid feel in hand. A little extra wear at the toe, but I can live with that.

Very nice one pass shave. I need to dig out a few razors I haven't used in awhile.

Todays shave was with a newly acquired and honed razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. The Japanese Stones I am now using are doing a great job.

    Cold Water Rinse
    Vintage Life Licorice
    Jayaruh #273 Synthetic
    Luxor Pro Master
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWR
    Florida Water

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Vintage Life Licorice Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #273 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Luxor Pro Master razor with a Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Shave #6 with the Filly 14 Sub Cero user, soap was the sublime Martin de Candre fougere lathered with a Keyhole 3, and a splash of Myrsol AB finished up a no-stubble, no-sting BDBS shave.

I had custom scales put on a Bismarck, but the finish started turning to a matte finish over time. I posted a pic of the razor online, and the guy who made the scales noticed this and generously offered to refinish them at no cost. In the process of rescaling the razor, though, the bade became chipped, blunted, and virtually unusable. He offered to send it off to have it sharpened, but I decided to take a crack at it myself. The chips were bad enough that I used a 220 Norton to take them out, and then set the bevel at 1000. Took my time (i.e. anal retentive overkill) on the Norton 4000 and 8000, finishing up on the Naniwa 12000, and then 50 strops on leather. The result was one of the thinnest, straightest bevels I’ve got, which then produced one of the smoothest, closest straight shaves I can recall. Granted, other than the dullness and chips, there was nothing particularly wonky about the blade, but I’m still extremely pleased and proud of the final result after basically starting over with this blade at “ground zero”.
