June 18 SOTD: Razor: Razorock Mamba Blade: Rapira PL Brush: Ever-Ready 150 Lather: PAA Black Bot Aftershave: PAA Black Bot Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB A went a little out of the ordinary for a gym morning and brought a tub of soap with me this morning. I just acquired this one and wanted to give it a go. It is based on the 60's scent Black Belt, which I have never tried, so I can't comment on how close it is. I can say that it is definitely a Musk. That is what I first get in the nose, but I also get a little citrus and some lavender. Underneath there is a bit of woodiness/earthiness to it that balances everything out. It is a nicely done scent, and the performance is right in line with PAA offerings. After two passes, I had a nice DFS. It was a great start to my day. I hope everyone has a great day!
Great picture, Jim! Cool effect! The scent sounds nice. Thank you! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Awesome, but weird shave today. The awesome part was a near BBS using a Thater Cocobolo Two Band (no, you can't have it @wristwatchb), a North Shore Cerakoted Fatboy, an Oleo Montrose Beach sample I'm trying to kill (I can see the ring of death forming!), and Stirling AS. An effortless near BBS shave that makes you go mmmmm afterwards. What I didn't anticipate is that the smell of the Mostrose Beach would linger long after the shave. It's a really nice pine scent (with other beachy stuff mixed in - kind of like a mountain lake vacation kind of vibe). Assuming the soap to not be a player in how I smelled after the shave, I squirted on some Stirling Grapefruit AS, figuring it to be, as always, a reasonably neutral citrus winner. So... if you are wondering why no soapmaker has come out with a grapefruit and pine scent, I now have olfactory evidence that this is not a good idea. Two great smells that don't go together. The olfactory version of a peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwich as it were. (Which coincidentally sounds like a pre-shave moisturizer that might be used by this group in May, but I digress. Anyway, I am now nasally confused and disoriented for the day. Sorry. No pics follow. Just confustion.
June 18, 2019 Cobra Classic Feather Pro Alpha 400 with Maggard SHD MdC Fougere Guerlain Habit Rouge EdT An excellent shave to start the day. MdC is not the best soap in any one category for me but I always have fantastic shaves when I use the soap. Maybe it's because I used it for my initial 30 day rule. Two passes and touch ups just missed the little guy. A splash of witch hazel with menthol followed by a spritz of Guerlain Habit Rouge EdT and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday .
June 18th Semogue OC Cherry Wood Boar Tabac SS Ever Ready Streamline v2 GEM Personna SE (2) Tabac AS Tabac Tuesday. 'Ride the cap' 2.5 pass DFS+ shave (wifey claimed a BBS....). No weepers, oopsies or other shenanigans. The Semogue Boar did a fantastic Tabac SS lather, and my newly acquired Ever Ready loaded with the Personna blade efficiently swiped it away with confidence. Love this razor, quickly becoming one of my favorites. Zilcho feedback from the Tabac AS, and another wifey approved aroma. Busy day ahead...quick post this morning....hopefully check back in late this afternoon. Have a Terrific Tuesday everyone!
