Hey all,

Just got caught up - you've all been some real talkers today. I worked way too late, about 12 hours today. Hoping work will slow down in a couple of weeks. On the up side, I had a great shave this morning. I'm usually an every other day guy, but this was my second day in a row and all is still well with the old face.

Got my granddad's Wostenholm back from the gent on SRP that was kind enough to hone it for me (a PIF). Man, is this thing ever sharp! Can't wait to take it for a test drive - probably this weekend sometime.

 

Huh? Now I'm totally lost (which isn't unusual mind you). I just checked pg. 485, and I didn't see anything too raunchy. A couple GI Joe comments and something about PSA which I have no idea what that is. The only video I saw was one I missed that was actually kind of funny. A badger swinging a mushroom. No cursing though. Well anyways a reminder never hurts. Let's keep it PG13 folks.

Now the reason I'm checking in tonight. I was just watching Nat Geo and it seems in 1.4 billion years the only life form left will be some little critters living inside the salt crust which apparently will be covering the entire surface of the earth. It looks pretty grim. So I say get out there and buy all the shave stuff you want kids. Our time on this rock is limited!

Ok. Now I'm more informed. Some posts were deleted. Folks we tend to get involved in our own little HYD world here and forget we're not alone. This thread is NOT in the adult section so we must keep it tame.

Please Everyone let's remember to mind our language and our P's & Q's in here ok. Let's also watch the racy photos and inappropriate video links. Eyebrows have been raised so let's just reign ourselves in a bit. Myself included; if I've gone overboard I apologize. We don't want the worlds longest thread about nothing to get locked down.

Don't over work yourself to the point you can't post here or shave. That just against the whole HYD strain. Glad to hear your grandfather's Wostenholm is back and ready to go. Good luck on that shave!

Morning everyone. I think 5 shaves on the 7 O'Clock Blacks are about the limit in the older R89. The 6th shave today feels like it irritated my neck a bit. It wasn't a bad shave until I went ATG. Then I could tell the blade just wasn't doing its best anymore. I will probably use 1912 GEM until finish off that Pella blade (unless it is all rusted up from sitting in the razor for a week).

I am still disgusted about going back to cold weather. Mother Nature is such a flipping tease with those 60 degree days we had. On the plus side, all of the snow is finally melted, the rain has finally stopped, and the rivers didn't crest too far above flood stage.

 

Wow, thankfully I have a 1.4 billion years worth of shave supplies, so I will survive.

 

Morning everyone.

Another great Mergress shave this morning. I can't believe I am about to say this but I have had terrible thoughts of selling at least one of my slants. I have 3 and the Mergress. I haven't even touched a slant in 5 days. Now I am thinking I need another Mergress, you never know when they will stop making them and the one I have may only last another 200 years. By Sheps calculations I will need more Mergress razors:happy088

 

I was amazed by my Progress. They really are incredible. If I see a Mergress for the price you got yours, I must add it to my arsenal.

 

Rodd I thought about getting a Progress but I think the added weight from the custom handle benefits the shave. I have no proof of this, just a hunch.

Oh I forgot to add that I am using Astra Superiors in it so my beloved feathers haven't been touched lately either.

 

morning all. I'm at work on my day off. Funeral for a longtime parishioner this morning and then off to the jail this afternoon to tell an inmate his mother died last night. Fun times.

Oh, and I had a great shave with a colgate puck and a wilkinson blade.

Jim, the Mergress is a Progress with a metal turn knob custom made for it. It adds some weight and makes it look a little nicer than the plastic handle.

I'm going to try to chill on the workload a bit, Justin. Funny thing is though, I'm actually having fun. I worked with a lot of great people for a pretty terriblly managed company for almost two decades. Spent the last ten years looking over my shoulder wondering if the next round of layoffs had me in the lists. Now, I work for a great company in a small isolated where most of the folks don't even realize just how good it is. It's kind of cool - like a reprieve in mid-life. So, yeah, I work too many hours, but for now it's like therapy. I do take some time every day to just veg and read. Shaving is a real treat that I look forward to every day or two.

Speaking of which, I'll be letting the old man's beard grow today. Tomorrow I'll look like someone sprinkled sea salt all over my face (with a dash of pepper). I may even let that go until saturday for the debut of grandpa's Wostenholm.

Tracy, who's got a Mergress for sale. I see them at Lee's Razors, but can't find another one. Haven't looked for very long though... That's one awesome looking razor.

Noob - wow... you've got a day ahead of you. Good luck with all of that. I'm tired at night, but you must be exhausted. Be good to yourself.

None for sale right now. I don't think I will be seing another one for sale in the classifieds any time soon. Even Lee's is sold out of them at the moment. I think he has some more coming in though.

I think I have talked myself into selling one of my slants. I just don't need 3 of them anymore.
