June 20 Good evening, guys! Just finished another wonderful shave. Today's random pick was my '55 (A4) Gillette Red Tip Polsilver Iridium Rockwell Brush Glastonbury SS and AS Clubman Styptic Pencil Modessa Witch Hazel Produced a nice rich, and wet lather of the Glastonbury SS with the Rocky brush. The Polsilver blade has been used twice before and it still very sharp to do a very nice job. I did WTG and ATG passes and could have stopped right there, but I did a XTG pass to finish a nice BBS shave. Unfortunately, when I went XTG on the neck, it produced 2 weepers. Applied styptic and witchhazel to stop the wounds. Finished with the matching aftershave. I have to say, although the Red Tip is not as aggressive as my other Gillette DE's, it still produces a wonderful shave. Have a great day, fellas!
Joe, that was a wonderful shave and a wonderful report. Sorry about the 2 weepers. Red Tip looks great.
Nice picture, Joe! Red tips are such good looking razors. Every time I see one being used I get the urge to get mine out. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Thanks, Danny! It's rare that I get weepers with a safety razor because I usually do not go completely cross-grain on neck. My error was that I didn't stretch the neck sideways and it caught the blade. However, it is no biggie! Believe it or not, I only have 3 more random picks left and that means that I will have used all my razors. That's 10 straights, 1 shavette and 7 DE's. The 3 razors remaining are: 6/8 Ralf Aust, 7/8 F. Herder and the '61 Fatboy. Once I finish, then I will close the remaining month with my Dovo shavette.
Thanks, Andrew! I appreciate my Gillette razors. I can see why people didn't want to continue straight razor shaving back in the day. However, straight razor shaving gives me such an awesome experience that safeties can't match.
Tomorrow's Fat Friday so that'll be the Fatboy. Saturday will be a travel shave so no go there. Sample Sunday would be a good day to break it out. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
