It has come to my attention that I have erred...not an uncommon event, but this one I felt needed my openness toward all of ya'll -
there have been a few posts where I have mentioned trying out some Gillette 7 O'clocks (thanks again, Matt)
In those posts I talked about my eager anticipation of the Black blades, and how they were good, but didn't live up to my expectations, and how the Yellows were just plain awesome...please, in your minds, reverse those to colors. Imagine my surprise when I went to change the blade in my super adjustable, and instead of finding a Super Platinum (black), found a Sharp Edge (yellow).
I know it matters not to anyone here besides me, but being one to want the details correct, please index your cerebrum and medulla oblongata to reverse my previous statements (no, I don't care that it's not the job of those portions of the brain...they just sound cool )

oh, I still want to say I'm concerned about our hoppy one...no avatar, not been online (that I've noticed) today, so he's not been in the middle of changing it...I see no threads on TSA, I don't see Elmer Fudd walking around with a suspicious picnic basket...if he's overstepped again, we're starting to run out of Hare Restorer

Alright guys. I'm going to keep my eyes on those New Standards over on the Bay. I may throw a bid in (reactivated my account), but I'm not going to high.

I haven't yet finished sampling them all so don't want to jump the gun. I just know I really like that Bostonian. Thanks for all your help and PM's. So what makes a razor an SS then?

Hey boys. Yes, it was my fault. I got schooled on razor terminology. I just put in a bid on a 2 razor set. One of which is a New Improved that we have been talking about. I'm the only bid so far and it ends tomorrow. I'm thinking the seller wants more though. Want to bet all of a sudden another bid gets posted? I'm not playing that though. I only bid this because it was cheap.

I picked up a green/black everready brush on the bay a week ago, and Rodd is doing the Reknot for me, I'm anxious to see what it looks like.

Usually the last 2 minutes there is a flurry of activity on the bidding, sometimes there are sleepers, that skate through with only a bid or 2. good luck. I think the new's shave a bit better than the New improved.

I just used my new R41, took forever to shave, all the bad press freaked me out. No cuts or weepers, got a pretty dang good shave. I like the feel of the R41 a tiny bit more than the R89, it's more densely weighted at the handle like a HD rocket, or aristo jr, the R89 handle feels a bit like the Merkur HD handles.

I haven't had much luck trying to score Old Styles (ie, double ring) lately. I've no idea what New Standards go for, but I bet they get driven up like the Olds do.

Heck, I ended up paying $38 for an auction lot containing a Ranger Tech, but at least I have that little item off my checklist now.

 

Okay, the new knot is in... looks pretty good for my first attempt - not perfect, but nice. I'll bet it'll beat the feel of my VDH in any case.

Bong, I think I saw a picture you posted of that everready and it's one pretty handle. That should be sweet. Mines a very common red and cream (used to be) boar.

So does this mean the razor blade that you had over a week of use in was not the Yellow but was in fact the Black? Wouldn't surprise me a bit if that were the case.

Yeah... we all got carried away. But it got my posts per day average up above 30 again.

Congrats on that project. I am quite happy with my re-knotted brush and that it turned out well. The fact that I did it gives me extra pleasure whenever I use it.

yep, that's almost exactly what I'm saying...the only difference is I've been using that one blade for over 2 weeks, again, about 4 shaves on other razors (2 on Micromatic with Ted Pella blade, and 1-2 on super adjustable with yellow 7), and on average shaving every other day, pretty dang awesome by any account (and no, I haven't even started stropping the blade yet, Rolls)

 

morning all! today's shave was with a Star SE and a Treet blade. Loved it. I may be a new convert to the GEM side.

 

My morning is going well. Friday is finally here and the wife and I are getting out of town for the weekend.

I am going to get some sample container this weekend and then start giving out some Connaught Cream samples. He sent me some unscented cream in the lot so I will be sending you some.
