Now I can see your desire for one, and it passed on to me. I tell you, those razors look even better in the silver color. Looking at those pics, though, I still maintain that the NEW head and New Improved head - check that, base plate - are probably very close if not the same, save the pin holes.

And here I thought my RAD was subsiding....

    EDIT: and good night, Justin

Actually is there an official term for that part? I call it a base plate. Maybe it is the head bottom? The top is commonly referred to as a cap, but do we have a consistent name for the base plate?

One would think. It makes sense in a logical progression from Old Style to NEW that the New Improved existed. It has the teeth shape of a NEW but the pins of the Old Style. However, for all their similar appearance, the blade may be exposed more or less or may have more or less gap and may shave very differently.

    yup.....

I like base plate myself, too. It makes sense to me. Another thing that can affect the blade exposure is the cap.... so many differences...

    Good night Matt.

Just ordered me a handle from Bob, so I guess my razor quest is at an end for this paycheck. I'll give it another try in two weeks.

I'm back here... I napped for a bit.
Seems like my weekends have been like that lately.
I divide my sleep between day and night.

    Morning everyone...

Wonderful shave this morning. Palmolive shave stick and used on my my re-plated News. I forgot how nice those were to shave with as I have been doing the SE, Slant, R89 thing for the last several weeks.

Daughter isn't up yet. She was running high fever last night so I want to check on her; however, she needs her sleep and I don't need to deal with her super cranky.

    Et tu, Maisie?

Now to top it off, dog had the runs.

    fun fun fun....

After Friday the 13th and Pi day, we now have the "Ides of March" and in two days we get green and then get drunk (or is it the other way around?)

morning all! I tried shaving with my new micromatic for the first time ever and... had the worst shave ever. That micromatic has a funky angle that just doesn't work. I've used other SEs and loved them, but this micromatic just did not work right. Shredded my chin so bad I took the blade out and put it in a different SE to finish the shave.

Anyway, I'm hoping my face heals enough to shave tomorrow.

I did about a week with my 1912 style Ever Ready SE and couldn't quite get the angle figured out. I decided to stick to DE's for now and come back to the SE later.

    Well... daughter is up.
Good News: She isn't being uber-cranky, she has an appetite, and she isn't running a fever that is so high that I am on the edge of taking her to the hospital.
Bad News: she still has a 101 fever.

Sorry you had such a rough shave with it. I found where I tip my 1912/1924 slightly up to get a better shave, the angle is different with the MM. Not a fan of the MM because I get a much better shave with the 1912 & 1924 models.

When I first tried a SE I wasn't impressed either. But once I started shaving with open-combs constantly, I didn't have an issue with SE. Yes, the angle is different. Some people say lay it flat on your face, but I find that about an angle half way between flat and a DE angle works well. I go by sound and feel on the angle though.

I've shaved with a Star, which looks identical to an Ever Ready, and had absolutely no trouble. In fact, it shaves me closer than anything else that I've used in recent memory- with no irritation.

The micromatic head requires a different angle from the Star and it just didn't work for my face. These things happen. :(

Glad your daughter's a bit better. I'll pray for her continued recovery.

Good mornin' HYDTSD'ers. As expected 5:30 did get here too soon *yawn*. I've been a creature of night shift for so long that the switch to mornings is always a chore. We don't have too many of them so it's not so bad; plus it's quieter so there's that. Breaking in a new pair of boots this morning and that's always fun. had to switch them out though. The pair I've been wearing were defective. The left shoe clicked everytime I stepped down on it. step...click...step...click...step...click. Was driving me nuts!

Sorry about the sick dogs and kids. We just got done w/ sick baby syndrome. Those are always fun sleepless nights. Splashed on the Cade AS this am. Man that stuff smells good. Face still feels nice after last nights shave. This particular New is in the running for top billing. So whad up?

I'm still awake and with a sick one too. My daughter got up in the middle of the night sick to her stomach. I think it's a stomach virus that's been going around. Padawan had it last week, I had something last weekend, now Mini-Me. :(
