Wow, that is a good looking razor.

It’s the law of diminishing returns, you are at the point where you spend more to get smaller improvements. Try adding a little water as you go and then when the water is clear do a few laps with the stone almost dry and keep the pressure very light at the last stage.

It is my travel scuttle that I think was intended as a portable water bowl for pets. I received from a TSD member a couple of years ago. It’s very convenient, it foos flat so it’s easy to pack.

I have a spare Slim I pulled from my gear to chuck at The Traveling Box. Sorry, it's an H-2. I think that may be a First Year Production for that model. Someone with the chart can correct me, or PM if it's their BYR.
Huh. I'd be curious where I stand on that scale. I'm not sure I trust this one.

June Basics / Single Ring Evaluation Focus

    Proraso Single Blade cream sample
Alpha 400 badger brush by @Vlasta
    Suribachi bowl and cool water
'21 Gillette Single Ring 3pc DE
    Gillette Silver Blue blade
Shulton Old Spice Leather AS & Cologne
SOTD 06262019 '21 SiRi Proraso SC.gif Got my gear all stirred up poking in corners for stuff to share with that Box. Found a sample of that latest Proraso shave cream in a little ziplock bag. Since it had somewhat dried out I wasn't sure how much to use so it all went into the bowl with a little water to juice it up. Stirring with the badger knot told me I could have used half as much. Swapped the used GSB from the '20 to the '21 Single Ring for my first evaluation shave on this the third of three trials. Three pass accomplished with much confidence, a little fiddling on the places other razors and my hand tend to fail, and it's not as smooth as the 1920 razor. I'll do a few more comparisons but the one that's showing black tarnish on the handle & cap has performed best so far. Being 113, 99, & 98 years old it's more the miles or accidental drops than the look of the finish I'm considering. Drug Store aftershave splashed on to complete the procedure gave a little sting. Aggressive / efficient razors will do that without a light touch.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Thanks Jim! Yes I'm enjoying comparing them, and pleased to find them so efficient. The styling isn't much to speak of when compared to later or modern DE razors. Being so close to the advent of Safety Razors, they must have expected straight razor users to be comparing how well the worked. Very pleased with the beard reduction, and not a nick yet!

Started my new Titanic soap today. It’s a large sample of Stirling Island Man. I’ve had this in the tub for over a year now. I will be using it every other shave until it is gone. Rod’s scent description: “An intoxicating blend of bergamot, lime, mandarin, coconut, jasmine, hibiscus, ylang-ylang, ginger, sugarcane, musk, and rum. The Island Man only makes his appearance during the summer season so get yours while it lasts!“ the scent is even better in the splash than the soap.

Second use of this beautiful brush from @jtspartan. The handle is amazing. The synthetic knot is very soft with no scritch, and has a very light backbone. I think I hate it. I’m going to do a rule on it for July, but if I don’t come around to it by then it’s getting a boar knot (in 2020 when my NB is over.)

One down side of using every razor I own one time each is that some of my touchy razors, like this Cooper Monobuilt, I don’t get enough time with to remember the fine points of using. Did a three pass shave with a light touch and no chasing, and settled for a DFS. Alum was still warm though. If I use this razor for a couple of weeks, I can get BBS with no blood.
