June 27, 2019 Brass General Feather Pro Super Simpson CH2 Synthetic Eleven DFS 2019 LE Shave Soap & Aftershave Thankfully this week has gone by fairly quickly. Another excellent shave to start the day. The "Soap Destroyer" whipped up the Eleven DFS LE into a reach slick lather. Three passes, touch ups and buffing my lower right neck ended in a wonderful BBS shave. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
Years back, business took me to a part of Italy where horse meat dishes are common. In the market, many forms of unique fresh animal proteins could all be found for sale side by side. At the time, I still owned 3 horses and wondered if I would be able to consume the meat of one of these types of animals. To avoid starvation I suppose I could, but seeing how extremely lean cuts were compared to beef, it made me realize this big difference in something raised to be part of the food chain and something that consumption would be the secondary usage. I'd imagine a tough meat with an almost gamey flavor. My biggest concern would be not knowing what set of circumstances surrounded the status change from beast of burden or recreational livestock to equine delicacy. A friend of mine from those days was an avid outdoorsman who grew up on game consumption. He preferred gamey flavor to a steak raised for the sole purpose of human consumption.
Andrew, you are indeed blessed. I always enjoy seeing the photos of your boys. It's fun watching them grow up.
Gem ClogPruf Gem Stainless (4) Semogue BC Mistura Real Shave Co. SC Decent shave this morning. 2 passes, no irritation, just not overly close. Yesterday saw a can of Barbasol foam and a single pass of the ClogPruf. Yup...
June Focus Stirling Bonaparte~~Simpson B "Major"~~Dovo 6/8 Today's shave is dedicated to Andrew @Linuxguile who surprised me with a gift of the Stirling Bonaparte. Many thanks to you, young man, for your generosity. Excellent lather, fascinating scent (I first expected a Lilac Vegetal clone), very complicated. I can't access the website's description, as the product has been discontinued. Perhaps we can get @ezlovan to weigh in??? The Dovo was satisfactory...is that my new norm? Cannot get my chin stubble completely removed. Cannot get parts of my neck smooth. My straight-shaving has yielded less than stellar results as of late. I am, however, smelling like a French Emperor, so that will have to suffice.
Great picture, Joseph! I found this on the web: Bonaparte (Limited Edition) – this is the strongest essential oil soap offer from Stirling. A very powerful blend of Thyme, Rosemary, Bergamot, Lavender, Petitgrain, Lime, Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit, Ylang Ylang, and Tangerine. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Me too, Paul. I love Boston's music, and it always takes me back. It's even better when you hear it in a 1972 Chevy Nova on an under dash Pioneer Supertuner. I miss all the cool stereo equipment with glowing lights and dials, BTW. Digital displays and streaming music is not nearly as cool.
Thanks Blair. We love our time each week with these special kids. Some of them are in the hospital for awhile, so we really get close to them and their families. The care team is fantastic as well...we're humbled by their love and dedication to the kids. I laughingly tell people that I relate better to kids than adults. That ain't far from the truth. I appreciate the kind words on the shave and the closet. It's nice to finally get my gear organized in one spot. I can't wait to see you what you come up with.
