Thank you Andrew. I generally get between 30 and 40 shaves from most softer artisan soaps. So it’s not surprising that it’s nearing the end. So I have really started moving to more soaps that are harder and last longer.

Congrats on finishing one off, Robert! I never seem to get one done...
Nice, simple shave, Patrick. What do you think of the G-Bar?
I'm worried, Jim. Are you on Central time? That would make your post at 4:47am. You must be working very long days.
    Great combo, nonetheless!
Glad to hear the blade is working out for you, Terry. They are very cheap, but I would find changing one out mid-shave to be a real pain.
Great stuff, Blair. Yup, my feelings on that awesome soap are well-documented.
Just amazing, Jim. Once again you've made my own stuff look better than I ever can. If I ever need promotional photos for my turnings (highly unlikely, but it sounds good), I'm giving you a call.

I think this isn't taken into consideration when people talk about the price of certain products, Clint. Is the SV soap more expensive than the average quality artisan soap? Absolutely. However, for as often as I've used the Felce Aromatica or Colonia, I'm not sure I've even made a recognizable dent in the puck. Twice as expensive for at least twice as many shaves.
Perhaps I'll keep track of shave #s on my next triple milled puck.

Thank you, Clint. It is just a simple summer placemat. I didn't know what a 'summer placemat' was until I complimented SWMBO on the new placemats for the outdoor table. That is when I was informed that such a thing exists...

Thanks, Jim. This earlier Glissant base is a very good base, imho. I've had a few other samples in this base as well, and they were all consistent performers for me.

I completely agree. I have a few tubs in the Glissant base and have no complaints.

The Gillette NEW is such a beautiful razor... no idea how they shave, but if I ever buy a 3rd razor (I own a Dorco TTO that I never touch since I bought my rocket LOL) I'd have to take a good long look at a NEW LC

    Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    EDRIO#86 Schick Injector J2 Prototype
    Personna blade
    2019 30DC Meetup brush (28mm, Destroyer Class)
    Wilkinson Sword Shave Stick
    Stirling Glacial Unscented PSB
    The Veg

Well well, what can I say. I do believe I am chosen. I received a care package from Jim @jluc a few day ago that contained 100 Sharp Star blades, the Stirling
Blood on Steel set from the meetup, and a bottle of The Veg. I also received the 30DC Meetup Brush from Neal yesterday so I had to put that into play too! I applied a nice this layer of soap from the Wilkinson Sword Shave stick and began to lather. First thing I noticed is that this 28mm SynBad knot has way more backbone then my 30mm, so much so that I really had to persuade it to splay while face lathering. Once I got it to splay thought it really whipped up a nice lather in no time. First shave on a new Personna blade, that get the job done but they are not as sharp as the Schick IMO. Finished the shave off with a cold water rinse, and now the moment of truth. Tried to get just a few drops of The Veg of my hands but it poured out like a faucet. Strong initial pungent lilac scent, didn't like that so much but it faded fast. What I was left with was a powdery vanilla type scent with just a hint of lilac. Asked my wife what she though. She said it smelled like baby powder, but wasn't repulsed by it and didn't call it "old man" so I guess it's ok. Have a great weekend my friends!

    TGIF!!

A post shave pic this time :happy088:

    WP_20190628.jpg

    my trusty rocket
Ladas (1) - first time trying this blade. It wouldn't surprise me to learn it's identical to the other Rapira stainless ones.

Palmolive stick - first time trying this soap. Nice slick lather and surprisingly pleasant smell. Lathers just a titch slower than Arko but has better scent and post-shave, both are worthy budget soaps.

RazoRock Bruce Plissoft. I usually use this one when I forget to pre-soak my boar, it's decent (love the handle shape) but I wish it was a bit flatter on top, the tips in the middle have a tendency to spring back and forth while face lathering unless you completely splay it out.

CL La Foret De Liguest - first time using this as well. For such a complex scent it's remarkably subtle and blended, hard to place any of the particular notes so far. Almost has a dark/spicy edge to it. I'll see how the drydown is but so far so good. However doesn't 100% scratch my fougere itch and I'll look for something slightly less woody and more green to accompany it - anybody tried Maol Heliopteris?

Happy long weekend to any other Canadians

The New is my favorite vintage Gillette. I prefer the short comb over the long comb but other prefer the long comb. If you'd like to take one for a spin let me know.

I like it, lather is on par with the Palmolive but it has a subtle cologne type scent.
