Thanks Joe. I agree with what you've said. We've never been to the Kentucky Derby. Too many people and too much hoopla for our tastes. You can enjoy the experience much more on a quiet day during the week. I have a friend who serves as a tour guide at the Kentucky Derby Museum. We plan to take one of his tours sometime...during the week on a quiet day. :)

My Bride and I once viewed the Statue of Liberty at night while riding on the Staten Island Ferry. We've not had the honor of stopping to pay a visit. To be honest, we have no plans or desire to visit NYC again. The closest we've gotten recently is the Newark Airport. Upstate NY is beautiful, however, and is more our speed. We've driven across the state en route to Maine.

It seems like a few of us have had some red seepage today. Unfortunately, I embarked on the same boat.

Thanks Joe. We were invited to an event with food and an open bar, but I had only one drink (a whiskey sour) and a sip of my Bride's beer (Blue Moon in a can - yuck!), but Old Forester Mint Juleps were designated as the Official Drink of the Kentucky Derby this year. I stuck mostly to Diet Coke and bottled water, and I was more interested in the food. :)

I am curious to try different Kentucky bourbons and imported beers in extreme moderation, but I'm not a drinker. That slope is way too slippery for me, plus I don't need all those empty calories.

Charlie, I understand you, completely. Although this is completely biased, my Long Island's South Shore has the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Thanks Joe. My Bride loves to complete timed crossword puzzles and sometimes Sudoku puzzles. That's way too much thinking for me. I just catch up on the 30 DC thread where little to no deep thought is required. ;)

You are biased, Joe! The Florida Panhandle has the most beautiful beaches. :) I've heard people gush about the beaches on the Mediterranean (and I've seen a few of those), and I still like the Panhandle beaches better...it's hard to beat the unspoiled coastline and avoid the large crowds. All kidding aside, there is no place like home, and I'm sure the Long Island South Shore beaches are wonderful. Come to think of it, I have seen the ocean front at Atlantic City.
