Do you apply the CrOx to the smooth or the rough side?

Thank you, gentlemen! I had planned on shaving earlier today but it got busy again. Maybe tonight or in the morning.

And for the discussion on cold water shaves - yes!! I'm a cold water shaver year round. Nice, invigorating feel.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the kind words. We had a blast today with the kids...going back for another short visit on Wednesday.
Very cool, Joe. I had a fantastic high school chemistry teacher, and I credit him for the career that I chose. One of our first experiments was to to place a sodium pellet on the surface of water in a beaker. It snapped, crackled, and popped as it scooted across the water surface. One student, who shave remain nameless, absconded from the lab with a handful of Na pellets. They ended up in the toilet in the boy's restroom. If one sodium pellet in water was cool, what fun could you have with a handful? It was truly a banner day in secondary education.

Years later, I told a friend who is also a chemistry teacher, about our escapades. She said that she demonstrates this experiment for her students. They don't actually get to perform it themselves. Where is the fun in that? ;)

Well, Charlie, you know it is very exothermic (heat released) and that the Hydrogen gas is flammable. It is a violent reaction that can cause severe injuries to the professional and definitely to the unprofessional. I am surprised you didn't get detention. Thanks, Charlie for the compliment!
