I rejoice with you on your progress, but I think it should be okay to allow onesself to have a bad shave.

And FWIW I haven't been an edge forward shaver much longer than yourself. I probably wouldn't score any of my open edge shaves above a B, which means a really close and totally comfortable shave.

The stroke I need for an A has been elusive. (Just under the jawline, towards the sides, side to center, against the grain for the kill.) I've continually improved on the closeness there without it. Most would never even notice, but I know it is there. And if I desperately need to "see the baby", I'll just pick up another tool for the finish.

As far as @Keithmax, he is all grown up and can handle himself. He has mentored many with sound advice beginner advice including me. As far as advanced advice, he has described exactly how he makes the very same shave move that I need to get that A.

Maybe I'm jealous because you get A's and I don't. Now if you told me that all your shaves were 5 star, we would be dead even. We like what we get, luxuriously so.

    Be well

Thats is what it is all about! Great shave.

Congrats on the catching the baby and I think the OREN is a very nice looking razor. I just love the minimalistic look of it.

I'm going take a step back from stirring the pot over my lousy report card and jump into the Adventures of Harry Headroom - Home Honer.

This Dovo 91 Sunday Shaver has never shaved as well as as my other one. I was able to get the sharpest edge I've ever done on a Naniwa 12k. I avoided resetting the bevel because it always shaved good, just 'not as'.

I drank the kool-aid and ponied up for some CBN abrasive emulsions at sub-micron grits to do the finishing on balsa strops. The test shave was sharp but lacked a smoothness that I want.

Being the Brut fan that I am, Et Tu is ringing the bells. I will say that I do prefer the soothing of Stirling aftershave splashes more, probably because they contain witch Hazel.

One of the fine gents over in honing suggested a little time on linen, then leather. Improved, but not as good as I know it can be (cause this razor has a twin in my stable). I'm going give it a little work 1 more time before I send it out. I don't think it unreasonable to assume that a guy who has sharpened thousands or tens of thousands of razors may be able do a little better than I. Then I'll see how the new abrasive emulsions are on maintenance only.

Went with my tribute to The TSD Saints of Louie gear.

I would never have called this fragrance Blood on Steel. Do NOT buy this if you favor the scents of gym shoes, jock straps, and sweat. DO buy this if you want a complex fresh and pleasant scent that lasts. It Has got it all. Right at the top of the Max Headroom List of Most Glorious Stanks. I'm even gonna have to consider if Brut gets to stay on top of the heap.

    Got some new gear.

Gang, let me introduce "The Friday Shaver". Comes with a deluxe lined travel case and a leathereen grip wrap.

I even chose to get the optional display stand.

The ONLY downside is they used one of those AccuTec industrial blades. I'm OK though cause I have used them in the Mayhem games in the DE and Chevette categories.

I guess BowHunky Engineering figures that the use of Gillette Silver Blues might price the 7 day seta out of the market.

Great shave photo and report Bill. I am sure you'll get the edge on the SR where you want it soon. The razor certainly looks fantastic.

This is me also. I'm content with grading my shaves as CCS, DFS, with either +/- as extra little modifiers. Rare will be the time I call a shave a BBS. I don't consider that I've gotten there as a whole yet.

I switched from years of 5 blade carts, from 4 blade carts, from 3 blade carts. Those were nothing but irritation, ingrown hair, and expensive (ok....I hear the groans, I've confessed to the newbie addiction which caused overspending by like a million percent, but it's FUN to shave now, almost zero irritation nowadays from any DE/SE/Straight, and it ain't hurting anyone but my wallet :sad027:......all that has to count for something....right?.....right??? :happy093:).

Great shave Neal! That is the one Stirling soap I wish I had ordered when I had the chance, and the reason I now have Stirling FOMO :angry032:
    Beautiful shave Robert!
    Fantastic setup Keith!
Beautiful shot Jim! Is the soap in the stick much firmer then the tub?
Fantastic shot Jim! The spray tops are my own addition. Feel like I get better control of the amount of AS that gets applied with them. If I want a light application I usually do two sprays into my palm. If you want more scent do three to four.
Beautiful shot Clint! Even with the potato peeler!
Very nice, Randy! Was this with a straight?
Excellent shot today Danny! Good luck with the attorney!
    Awesome shot Mark!
Lovely shot Joseph! Sorry about the weepers, you'll find your mojo is back next shave!
That is a wicked looking blade, Blair!
very nice Bill! PS the Stirling Tsuka EdT is the same scent as the BoS set!
