Worked on the burnt mower tonight and will have it running tomorrow. I fabricated two brackets that come up under the fuel tank fittings and add just a slight amount of pressure to the fitting. This is my safety measure to prevent the fittings from possibly coming out in the future. 20190705_194323.jpg

    Cinco de Julio

It appears as if the folks over at BowHunky Detention Engineering grew a little weary of my incessant whining about their use of an 'industrial blade' in my Friday Shaver. No need to even mention the cackling laugh of one Max Headroom in the background.

    20190702_113335-1.jpeg

In the old fashioned spirit of customer service, they returned to their kickstarter deep pocket supply trough for an emergency bailout.

The rally and result is incredible. Ladies and Gentlemen, in the spirit of the TSD tradition of Fatboy Friday and the dearly loved iconic shaver of the same name, may I present to you The Fatboy Friday Shaver......

    part0-1.jpg

BowHunky Engineering pulled out all the stops to make delivery of this modern marvel in time for Cinco de Julio. Complete with the husky knurled handle and the shavette loving GSB blade. They even drew in their best artistic talent from the estrogen wing of the facility to make the beautifying finishing touches.

Now the questions, how does it shave? and does technique Trump tools?

I chose Stirling unscented Sheep (mutton tallow) because I've never used anything better in the rich, thick and cushiony department..... even when sloshed out in my..... yes, lather bowl. Maybe there is no scent added, but it is anything but a glorious stank.

Stirling synthetic brush because I was getting enough 'animal thing' from the Sheep.

Determined to maintain routine, I went 3 passes for as good of a shave as I usually get at this point using an edge forward shaving device.

Yes, technique still trumps tools but I clearly lack the skill to pull off the moves for the finish here. I did my final pass with the Focus R21 shavette. Alum was about normal, quiet, yet there. Finished with Stirling Glacial Satsuma AS for a surprisingly long experience with a unique citrus scent.

I have so loved the Focus R21 Evolution shavette with the recessed blade and edge guards that it almost felt like cheating. With this shave I wanted test myself against a greater challenge (didn't even mute the corners like I originally planned). It is little more work to get a decent shave from a popsicle stick razor, but as demonstrated by many before me, it can be done.

As for me, in the future I'm going to be taking the tools over the technique. Who would want to go to the hassle to shave with one of these disposable doodads that leave ink all over your face when you can buy a decent tool that is easier to use for $20.

I hope everyone had a great Holiday.

    Paul.......

The refrigeration of shave soap is NOT blooming.

Need I report you to @Primotenore for disciplinary action?

Or to @wristwatchb who doesn't watch the time for those he tosses in the Detention brig?

    Just try Cold Water!

After a long hard day off, sitting down to see what I might have missed here. I have to agree with Joe. Bill, you have once again proved that not only most here are brave with sharp objects, but also are missing the gene that is responsible for sanity.
I just couldn't just like this and let it go.
Wonderful work, and very good show.

Might want to think about an electric razor for this trip. Most folks have enough trouble with the standing upside down thing, avoiding the shave soap running up the nose is a chore.

Thank you gentlemen, it was fun.

If I helped put even a little bit of a smile on yours or anyone else's face, it was a worthwhile endeavor.

    Be well!

Changed up blade today, where the BIC you can still feel in the Stahly, the Treet is pretty much undetectable. Mostly this is good, as cutting power is fine, but can be a little disconcerting and certainly it's possible to overdo pressure to compensate for the lack of blade feel.

Had a nice evening martini overlooking the market here in Phnom Penh.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

SOTD Cinco de Julio, not.gif Best intentions but I couldn't find my stapler. Not calling out anyone who already used that reason, it's what happened. Got my chocolate covered vanilla ice cream treat sticks, a tuck of totally untested Bolzano blade from @Terry but I just couldn't put it all together. In Solidarity with the brave 30DC that did prove themselves today I used an open blade for my WTG, followed by a couple other passes with the only used once before 113 year old DE fitted with a new-to-me brand of blades. In a fitting style the Gastonbury's sheep component and hippy festival's scent is my way of apology for not being able to follow through with the Popsicle sticks. Slightly dazed n confused but slick and smelling good? Results belie the tools giving a great smooth 3rd day reduction. It was going to be a glorious Cinco de Julio shave. Still was but not as I'd planned.
