So you didn't get SS blades? Those are carbon steel? Worse case there's the option of attempting to hone them.

Thanks for the advise. The ferrule is stuck and I cannot turn it by hand. I think I do have the tool you are recommending. Would you suggest cutting the old knot out and and soaking the ferrule connection in some penetrating oil? I have a Omega broke in 49 that I make take the knot from and put in the 400.

 

I don't know exactly. The package does not state but they appear to be stainless. The Personnas were carbon but as usual Lowes could not find them when they were showing 5 packs in inventory.

 

No blade stapled to a stick.......so it cannot be that bad. Can it?

Clint @clint64 has infinitely more experience at working on Rubberset 400's. That said, yy thoughts from only working on one of them? The cast aluminum ferrule and handle probably has oxidation, corrosion, aluminum rust in the threads. These aren't the modern milled billet. More thin walled and delicate so be gentle. Can't hurt to try penetrating oil in the threads. I got the ferrule off, then chipped and chiseled the old very hard glue that held the knot out from the under / inside of the ferrule.

The inside of the ferrule tapers at the opening.

That's good for stuffing the fat glue puck of the Omega donor knot in. You may have to reduce the new knot to get it to fit. They flare out at the bottom so grinding until they are flat helps.
