Today's Williams Wednesday lather was a repeat of last week's - some added menthol, and a couple of drops of peppermint oil. A nice, slick, cold lather. Can't beat it. I used the Micromatic with the Gold Tone blade again. With this blade I need a little more touching up than I normally do with a Micromatic. But the result was smooth and bloodless. Chased with a splash of Pacific Rush.
Oooh. Can we talk about that brush? Its Turkish? A Timizel? I have a Turkish Brush from my holiday and its very much like yours. How do you like yours?
I'm gonna bomb menthol Williams mug soap for today's shave. Just to beat the florida heat. Vintage ever-ready boar Bombed Williams menthol mug soap Barbasol floating head Persona lab (4) Barbasol Pacific Rush Smooth and cool, they didn't know how good they had it.
Yes, it's a Turkish boar. I love it. I'm a big fan of Turkish boar brushes in general. It reminds me a lot of the old bestshave no. 6, with a bit more handle. I got it on ebay from a seller in Turkey. At the moment this guy sells them with a tube of Arko cream: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Derby-Mois...-Regular-100g-brush-5-pcs-blades/113298187399
It's nice to see a thread honoring one of the best and most enduring soaps in shavedom. I shaved with William's for 40 years and had no complaints. Wonderful soap. Modern or vintage you can always be guaranteed a fine shave. My only complaint was they didn't make a matching AS or ASB. Then I discovered the world of online shopping...and well... still, William's is a great soap. Carry on. That was all.
That would explain it. $20 shipping for a $1 soap DOES seem rather excessive. I see it on Amazon.co.uk for £2.24 + £1.09 delivery, presumably only in the UK, but shipping to your location from a European division of Amazon might be a lot cheaper than trying to get it from the US.
Holy Crap! Had a Great Williams Tuesday, which will lead into another Williams Wednesday; Rockwell 6S (R6, R5, and R4) Dorco Prime (4) Zenith B18 Modern Williams in a Marvy Mug Fine Lather Bowl Gentleman Jon's Alum Block Everyman Jack Cedarwood Deodorant Denim Black AS Locally made Sandalwood and Floral EdC An extremely nice shave.
Rockwell Model T Gillette Nacet (2) Zenith B19 Modern Williams in a Marvy Mug Fine Lather Bowl Gentleman Jon's Alum Block Aqua Velva AS Local Brand "Brewed" #001 EdC The lather this time was "meh". I over watered. Still usable, just not as good as I am used to. I think I watched too many sgrdddy_shaves videos. Way too much water. There's something about this particular latrine. All my fails have been in this latrine. Rushing, I tell you what.
Back on track. Great Williams Lather, but the blade I used in my Blackland Sabre was less than desired. I think I spoiled myself starting off with GEM PTFE blades. It shaved, but a bit tuggy from the start. Blackland Sabre PAL Blade (1) Zenith B18 Modern Williams in a Marvy Mug Turkish Copper Hammered Bowl Gentleman Jon's Alum Block Aqua Velva AS Williams Lectric Shave (Used as a lotion AS/ASB) Duru Limon EdC
Blackland Sabre PAL Blade (2) Stirling Soap Boar Modern Williams in a Marvy Mug Fine Lather Bowl Gentleman Jon's Alum Block Brut Splash AS Brut Antiperspirant Brut EdC This was Friday's shave. Great shave considering the PAL Blade is one step above a Dorco Pace SE.
Williams Wednesday! This time with the added menthol and peppermint again. I could get really used to that. The Brut is spiked with a little menthol too, of course. Not glacial, but not too subtle either. To end the month, I chose the Canuck fat handle tech. Never met a tech I didn't like. 3 passes and touchups. Smooth, no blood, no sting. Life's good.
