O.K. I don't know what inspired this shave but I call it the GUMBO shave. Our Louisiana boys can explain gumbo better than me. I understand it is a lot if nice ingredients put in a pot and cooked tell it all comes together. This was my shave this afternoon. Everything was mis-matched but the results were delicious. Rockwell 6s top plate Karve E solid bar plate Weber bulldog handle Feather Blade C40 Ever Ready brush Fine L'orange soap Stirling Executive Man post balm Pinaud Clubman Classic We try to match things up in the dens most of the time but throw a little Gumbo in the den and change it all up. The mixed up razor did an excellent job with no nicks or weepers. When it was all said and done my wife said "you smell nice". Take care everyone!
I worked briefly with a gentleman who had gotten out of the bail bonds business. He was an accountant and had seen so much behind the scenes wheeling & dealing. Good Old Boys making charges *disappear* with a phone call from a lawyer to a judge to a prosecutor. No one would ever admit to it, it's not what you know, but who.

Gumbo is easy to explain. Imagine cleaning out your freezer of any odd bits of meat and making a stew with onions, bell peppers, & celery. To thicken the soup into stew - using a cast iron skillet, pour in 1/4 inch deep veggie oil and add flour until it's just still liquid. Brown that oil & flour stirring constantly until it get the color between a paper bag and an old boot. That's Roux which can be purchased ready to use. I learned to make it since it's that easy. Thin it back with the stock from the pot full of meat & veggies, and add it to the mix. Bam! Gumbo. Variations happen. Meat is often chicken, sausage, and/or seafood. Okra is an option but not required. I like a glug of soy sauce for salty brown flavor. A hard to find spice that can be home made - Gumbo File - (pronounced; Fee Lay) is simply dried & ground sassafras leaves. Gumbo need not be tongue burning hot. If you prefer spicy cayenne pepper is correct, not red pepper.
