Very nice Gary! You guys keep posting good things about Fine L'Orange.....may have to try some.

Great image and setup Mark. Love that brush handle. Dorian 2 band....hmm....

    Very nice Neal!

Caught this one a little late...trying to still play catch up....almost there. Nice setup. Love the single ring! Maol Grooming, not heard of them, likes me some Fougere....but they are showing out of stock on everything....

Very cool. Would love to cook like this, but wow, looks very complex (but yummy!).

    Very nice!

Very nice Jim. I still think you polish the gear in your images with a QTip every day....or oil rag wipe? Very nice as always!:eatdrink047:

    Very nice Terry!

Nice setup Perry. Noticed a few Soap Commander posts the past week.....may look into that brand.

Wow. Just wow. Another fantastic image and shave. Your and Danny's (and others) talk of the 400 style handles the last week....it's one that's intrigued me for a few months (gotta wait til August or later though...boo hiss). Might try that SHD knot earlier though....

Very nice. A soap or two I have do that also, weird smell in the container, better when using.

Great idea for a theme tbh. As per my other thread (Coming to Jesus lol). I have plenty to learn. My shaves are not always irritation free or BBS. I suffer the usual maladies of a wet shaver. I have enough stuff now to know that it is me, not it. Perhaps subconsciously, that has registered that in my shaving lobe and a bulb has gone on tellling me to back up the bus and rework the execution.

I need to plan this a little, the what and the where and the how, but i am game for it. :)

    What to use ? Hmm...

Don't let the Veggie ingredients fool you. It's good soap.
They are a nice piece of kit. The vintage units offer two options; From The Wild that can be enjoyed as is or go the Clint/Danny route and try for a shine, or a reproduction where you can sometimes get additional ferrules for hot swapping to different knots.

Always no pressure choices here. No one will hold you to a Rule but you. Even Focus can get fuzzy (Not you Fuzzy @wchnu !) as you feel like a change of gear.
Pick a problem razor and let the rest be minor variables. If you've got different scents of the same brand of soap that's keep the lather much the same. Post shave products are just icing so they don't count in the algebra.

    July is slipping by

    Soap Commander GBS* shave soap
    B-400 by @twhite, Omega 98 knot
Suribach bowl and cool tap water
    Gillette 1920 Single Ring DE
Gillette Silver Blue blade; use #?
    Nivea Sensitive Cooling PS balm
SOTD 07172019.gif I really thought about a Tabac lather last night. That's as close as I got to actually shaving. Started my day at 5:30 AM Central, picked up dad, and drove east for a scheduled minor medical procedure. Small facility specializing in heart care had two patients trump his AV fistula creation. Open heart emergencies so I understand. So his 9 AM appointment didn't happen until long after lunch. Spent all day either in 60ish degree AC, or stepping out to warm up in the sunshine. Today my feet are swollen so I'm prescribing time in the recliner. After sleeping in late a shave happened. That *Grab Bag of unknown Scents from Soap Commander got one beige hunk mashed into a bowl for ease of loading. Scent? Vaguely cologne, kind of. Loading happened quick & easy with the boar knot and lathered well in the damp textured bowl. First pass with the loaded Voskhod blade was tuggy so I pulled a used GSB from another handy DE. Three passes plus left over lather clean up passes netted a high DFS with no errors. A little stubble still on the lower neck is the price paid for not chasing that baby.
    Good Shave Y'all!

Paul I’m rooting and praying for your continued improvement.

Hi Jon, welcome to the 30DC. The time will go by quickly and the results are worth it. I did 3 months with a straight razor and I went from blood to irritation free shaves resulting in a smooth face.

Thank you @Keithmax....I have my follow-up tomorrow morning(with my physician)...Perhaps I'll have an "attack plan" afterwards. By the way, I'm pretty sure what happened to me is a Vasovagal Syncope. Mayo Clinic's site has a pretty thorough description of it.

So if i do this challenge, it will be about me not about my equipment. I have razors i like and razors i hate but i don't think that matters in tbis instance and for my situation.

My initial thoughts (random) on what to use are something like this:

    Razors:
Vintage, new, adjustable, non adjustable, OC, SB.

Straight off the bat i am tempted to discount my vintage razors. They are nice treats which i use sparingly. (This doesn't mean i use my new razors a lot either) and i dont want to hammer one for a month solid, but i wont discount them just for the reasons of preservation.
Adjustable or non adjustable? Well, razor lore would tell you that an adjustable teachers you what razor you need and a non adjustable teaches you what razor you should have got (or is that vise-versa?) Anyways, i know i would be messing about with the settings constantly so i am discounting them.
    Open comb or closed comb?
My only OC is a NLC. It is a nice shave, but can be a bit too mild and it is sensitive to angle. Perhaps this makes it a good candidate? Master the angle, master the shave? Lets leave it in.
    Which vintage?
My techs? Great razors. Great for honing technique but a bit boring for 30 days constant use. My Aristocrats? Eh, no. Just no. I would have a polishers breakdown.
My rocket? Tough and a bit unforgiving and demanding of good technique? Lets leave that in. My trash razors? Nope. I want to get through the 30 days. My flair tip? Good choice as it shaves just like a rocket. However its a bit of a tart and i think the rocket would wear the 30 days better.
New razors: My WS classic (new)? Nope. Too uncouth for 30 days straight. My R89? Ditto for the WS. My 34C? A HD razor which i dont reach for that often for reasons i can't explain. I just dont think i have synergy with it. A good candidate lets keep it.

    So, a Rocket, a NLC or a 34c?
I am going with the 34c. Its a razor which is built for this challenge and one which i will benefit from an extended use of.

    Blades:
Easy, i am going to need a bunch of them for a months use and i dont want to eliminate full tucks from my collection. I have a bunch of Rapira blades which i like and i won't be fighting with them over the 30 days. I also have feathers though and i feel the same about them as i do about the razor (not much lol). Plus feathers are sharp and the 34c doesnt have much of a roar... ah bugger, feathers it is then.

Brush: Not a synthetic. I want to learn brush use as well as razor skills. I have a Turkish Boar brush but i have a small Omega that needs a good thrashing. Omega 10019 it is.

    Finally, Soaps:
Vintage: Out. They are irreplaceable treats.
Artisan: Out. I dont have much love for the few i have.
Creams: Out. Soaps need more love to get right.
    Croaps: Nope. See above.

    This leaves me with:
TH Sandlewood. Out: Too poor a performer for 30 days use.
DH Harris. Out. Same as TH.
    The Golden hand. Out: Yawn
    Molton Brown: hmm.
    L'ocitanne: hmm
    MWF: hmm.
    Tabac: out. Too smelly lol.
    Palmolive stick: Yawn.
L'occitane gets the nod for the reason that its a marmite soap. Some like it, others dont.

    So:
    Razor: Merkur 34C
    Blades: Feather
    Brush: Omega 10019 Boar.
    Soap: L'Occitane Cade.

Its just the "when?" I need to figure out now

    Thoughts?
