Just before lunch a little package came in from Perry @PLAla. He was clearing out a few things from his den. I have not tried Soap Commander so we struck up a little deal. Perry also throwed in a bottle of Stirling aftershave splash. Looking forward to trying out the SC tomorrow. Thanks Perry!

Another revelation today. It's more of an equation.
    Pressure Comfort

    =
    Angle Smoothness
OK, you math whiz-kids, don't get your protractors in a bunch. That's the best that Primo can do.
    Let's break this down...
It seems that straight shaving is more than just keeping an angle. I liken it to scraping paint off of a window with a razor blade.
The razor must be sharp, a minimum amount of pressure is needed so the blade does not jump,
and of course, the angle must be kept throughout the scrape.
Skin, however is not glass and not indestructible, so.....
a balancing act is required between Pressure/angle to achieve the closest shave with the LEAST amount of discomfort. (read: weepers, irritation, etc.)
Today, I got a very close shave, but not without 3-4 weepers.
Therefore, I need to continue to find the answer to this equation.
When I first tried this WK, I loved the performance of the soap, but the scent didn't float my boat.
Not today, however. The "barbershop" scent really exploded.
Cutting to the chase: Great lather, nice 'n slick.
Two very close passes albeit with the aforementioned weepers.

Nice shave, Colin. I'm sure you'll get the lather dialed in. Here's something to try for your final pass: gently grip the base of the boar knot and squeeze upward to release the lather into you hand. You can then apply it by hand. I always do this for my second pass, and it is some of the most dense, creamy lather. For a demo, skip to 5:25 in the video:

Mayfair you got just what I need. DID I SAY THAT? SORRY. The "A" word(angle)is what always appears to get me when I've tried non-disposeABLE razors.

Thanks, Andrew! Yep, the past two or three shaves with the Fatboy have been on 9. It feels just fine to me! Smooth and comfortable.

So much awesomeness in this post! What a wild razor. Thanks for showing those prototypes in your EDRIO quest. Nice homage to Country Club and then TGIF! Awesome stuff.

Yes, my wife and I go to the Alabama Theater every holiday season and see A Christmas Story. It's one of our traditions. Beautiful place.

Thanks Danny. So sorry to hear about your dad. Hang in.

Glad the package made it okay! Hope you enjoy the shave with it tomorrow.

Congrats on successfully repairing the FB, John. I also have multiple Gillette adjustables (mostly BQ models). Since we seem to be in the first generation of the wet shaving resurgence (watch out @Primotenore...I may decide to copyright that phrase) where these old Gillettes are still relatively plentiful, I wonder if we'll eventually reach a point where all the available ones end up in collections and eventually become hard to find and priced accordingly. We may be years away, but I expect this to be the case at some point. This is how I've justified my extreme hoarding. :)
