So I am 942 posts behind, what did I miss?

Sunday first shave back home: I picked my big smiling 8/8 Martinez straight and Thater 2 band for the hardware. With more than 48 hours of stubble to remove I wanted a heavy open blade. The planets aligned and celebrated the return to shaving at home with an epic shave.

    Razor: Martinez 8/8
    Strop: Mastro Livi
    Brush: Thäter 2 band
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: Stirling 30DC LE
AS: Fine Snake Bite AS, Stirling ASB
    Scent: Dior Cologne Royal

    Mike's Bay Rum~~Simpson 59~~Dovo 91~~Ogallala Limes & Peppercorns Bay Rum
Sticking with Bay Rum today. Took possession of two new Ogallala aftershaves:
The above-pictured Limes & Peppercorns and a heretofore, never tried, never smelled
Double-Strength Bay Rum. More on that tomorrow, but the first whiff was NOT impressive.
While Mike's is hardly a triple-milled soap, it is fairly hard and benefits from some pre-hydration.
(That's the technical term for "blooming")
The Dovo 91 was moderately lapped on a CrOx-Linen strop and received 40 laps on my
    SRD 3" leather strop.
The yew wood scales are begging for some moisture, so I am going to attend to them this afternoon.
I am thinking some basic lemon oil...no petroleum product.
The Best-Badger 59 is a real "bloomer" too. When it's loaded it's Huuuuge. But never unmanageable.
I never gravitated towards "Best Badger" knots, but these "Grey Box" era knots are superlative.
The Ogallala juice smells fantastic, however, the Limes aspect over-powers the Bay Rum, IMO.
Yesterday's Dominica Lime Bay Rum was quite different; that juice is a Bay Rum-forward scent.
    Not sure which I prefer...:signs002:
The edge of the Dovo is still going strong. 2+ passes for a DFS sans weepers.
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday. :happy005:

Great shave, Joseph! I always thought I had a heavy beard because I used to shave every day. Since straight shaving, I can hold off until 36 to 48 hours before I really need to shave. Some of you guys must grow your beard quickly that you need to shave within 24 hours.

Another excellent shave and recap Joseph. I have decided that I like just bay rum scents rather than a mixing with other scents. I hope you have a great day as well.

Looks like it's gonna take a while to get through the posts that appeared while I napped.
So, as my wife got outa bed and tried to start a conversation with me. I was quiet and tuned into the job at hand. Had the right side of my face to try to finish, and was going for a no leakage kinda thing. Finished what I wanted to do and politely said, "when I'm shaving with one of these I need to stay focused dear". Saying somthing about talking to the wall, she then asked again what she asked before, that I ignored. Using the Focus shavette with a silver blue half blade doing 2 passes but not on the chin area, just didn't have the stability today. Loaded a Sharp Star into my R41 and proceeded to finish the chin area. This was rough and scattered, the 41 never has shown me much love. Being Sunday and all, I got out my Razorock R37 slant. This razor from shave one has always loved me, and this morning was no different. Loading a Sharp Star into it, the rest was just as I remembered. 2 passes mor or less with the open blade, the chin and touch up with the RR 37 slant, feels nice, no blood letting or rash. Now the top got the Razorock 37 treatment with another Sharp Star blade, so that was a normal 2 pass mowing job, nice. The Tobac and this brush worked fantastic, and a little icy goodness to finish my morning work.

All in all a great shave, not really the closest shave I every had, but really good.
I was going for a good shave without the agony of defeat, if you know what I mean.
Off to church and then a little time with the in-laws to make a nice day of it all.
    Everyone
    Enjoy
