Hello everyone! Mr. Postman was extremely good to me today. Seems like everything I bought last week showed up today. It was like Christmas.

    Today's haul:

    - A beautiful Merkur HD from rainman (thanks!)
    - A kick ass japanese straight that is in better condition than I hoped
    - Boker 5/8 Hollow Ground
    - Double Arrow straight
    - A canvas and leather strop that came with three new generic straights

The Japanese Straight was the real gem in the mix, but the Merkur was a surprise. The quality, feel, and look of it far surpassed my expectations. I was going to practice with one of my shave ready straights tomorrow, but that might be on hold so I can give the Merkur a go. The cheapo generic straights are going to be practice for honing, and the Boker is going to a honemeister to get in shave ready shape. Today was an excellent day .

I would gladly send you all the wind you can stand, it never stops down here. All the trees in my neighborhood (all of which are young trees) are all leaning, or anchored against the wind.

I only fish with lures. No live critters.

The two in my area both said no. I couldn't find it on their website, either...:(

My roommate has GM'ed a few campaigns of various systems and versions since I've known him. One thing I've learned is that a prepared GM(DM, whatever) has enough grasp of the mechanics of the world he or she is controlling to keep things rolling. Resorting to a book or books should be only to resolve a dispute.
The other, more important detail... argumentative, rules-lawyering types are not invited to return. ;)

Yeah typically we only have to consult the books about spell time lengths or the exact effect of a spell. Happened a lot last session actually, my monk needed to check up on slow fall and we needed to check out how long my spider climb lasts.

Nice haul. I hit the antique store today and walked out with all my money. I guess I cleared them out already of anything DE related that was worth having. Almost went ahead and picked up a rolls though... I couldn't even find a gem or ever-ready. A few brushes with cracked handles... like I said, I must cleared them out already.

Well, yes... I got the impression that the person being DM/GM was just on a power trip and really wasn't the person for the job. He contradicted himself often and then had to look things up constantly and things drug along enough that after three sessions we hadn't begun. I never bothered trying anything D&D again.

    Oh, that's another thing.
His expectation is for the players to make a note card, cheat sheet, etc... to keep track of their spells and abilities. Once again, it shifts a bit of the work off the GM and keeps the game moving rather than having to stop for references.
