My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face lathered well with The Brush by Tom. I did two passes with the Gillette Techmatic razor with a Techmatic Adjustable razor band and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    RVT Frosty Bay Rum SS
    Prep ASB
    Pinaud Bay Rum AS Splash

It’s been too long since I used this wonderful soap and it sure felt great to shave with it today. I had oodles of magnificent lather along with that gorgeous bay rum scent and a most pleasant cooling sensation. The Prep’s scent to me anyhow seems to pair perfectly and as always it gave me A1 soothing as well as lots of moisturizing. The Pinaud Bay Rum smells so nice in a real old school American barbershop way, and after the initial little sting it feels great on the skin. Three passes made ashes and dust of my rough stubble - no way can I be smoother!

What are your thoughts on the WS shave bowl?

I think they are ok. Certainly decent VFM. It is no SV, but it costs pennies.

This is my favourite citrus soap if you like the smell of sherbet lemons and a great performing soap, I highly recommend it.
    Happy Shaving one and all.

No worries, it's easy to miss posts.
I hope you like it if you decide to try it.

931BBF3A-3C2D-44E6-B352-193B31DA3D12.jpeg Well I had mentioned that next up would be the Merkur 39C to further my research on the “Battle of the Slants”. However, while I was poking about the collection, I spotted the Rockwell 6C which has not graced the SOTD in a while so it was drafted immediately. With a few days growth I went with the R5 plate and loaded up with a Personna Lab Blue.

Soap of the day Barrister & Mann Seville a lovely smelling and performing soap. I could gladly use it everyday but that wouldn’t be much fun now would it? The Simpson Colonel X2L made quick work of the soap and left me with buckets of lather to play with!

Proceeded to get through a fantastic two pass near BBS shave. Wow! I have to say I don’t know why it has been left out of the rotation for as long as it has but the 6C was a very smooth and impressive shaver! It just sang along with superb audio feedback and made quick work of the beard. Fantastic all around. Midweek and starting the decent to the weekend. Enjoy the week and happy shaves all!

    Rating: 5 / 5

Anytime I have a soap that is not a good performer from the beginning, I usually reserve judgement just to give me some time dial it in. This one would realistically fall into that category. This was my first use, and it was OK, not great. It doesn't seem terribly slick, but the post shave feel was a bit better than anticipated. Scent is pleasant enough.

Haven't tried Barrister and Mann before. What do you recommend from them, scent wise? Will add it to my list.

EDIT: Decision has been made: I saw they had an old-spice clone. I'm a sucker for old spice clones. Done and bought a container.
