How is the finish on that razor, Andrew? I have had a couple of anodized razors that can drag a bit. Does this one glide well?

    July 24

Razor - Gillette New SC Deluxe
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Stirling Satsuma
    Brush - Jayaruh #312
    Post - Alum

I made a mental note a couple of months ago that my soap cabinet is absolutely stuffed with Stirling products. Along with the other odds and ends I have like Soap Commander, Jeeves, Oleo, Moon and of course enough Arko to last the apocalypse, I figured there was no need to add any more soaps. So when the new tub of Stirling Satsuma arrived today with my order (oh come on, you saw that coming) I decided I might as well give it a try since it's Whatever Wednesday in my world. Besides.....I have a van in the shop again. I need something fun. Satsuma features mandarin orange with some oriental spices and is a really nicely scented soap. And it's Stirling so you know the rest. Not sheep, but that's ok. He also has a Glacial Satsuma available that I debated on, but since I have the Orange Chill (slightly different orange scent and not as heavy menthol a a Glacial) I went with the regular. Happy I did.

I used the JR312 pony wannabe and had a fantastic lather and that great feel from the fake pony. Love that brush more every time I use it. It acts and feels like a horse without the downside of natural horse hair, namely the knotting and tangling problems. Matthew, even though he's a friendly ghost now, wiped out my beard with two easy passes using the Rapira and I did a third just to enjoy the lather more. BBS is the finish, alum is quiet, and I'm all ready to put my feet up and relax for the evening. I'm certainly glad I decided I didn't need any more soaps and ordered the Satsuma. Worth every penny. Now....where in the world can I put it?! I'm out of room!

Yes, Sir! I find Barbasol to be perfect for shavettes. It definitely lacks the options and "cool factor" of shave soap, but to say it is inferior is misleading.

Now that you mention it Jim there was a bit of drag present on both razors. Nothing too bad though
