July Inspired Shave Stirling Glastonbury SS B-400 brush by @twhite Suribachi and cool water Stahly top, MR18 SS handle Feather Hi-stainless blade Stirling Glastonbury AS Haven't seen Jared @PickledNorthern around in since forever. He clued me in to this soap & AS by sending me a sample. Then @Joewa performed some incantation and I was set on my path. Seeing Jeff @jmudrick having all that fun swapping handles on his Stahly brought me to a near catastrophe. I don't mind using the oversized vibrating handle but I wanted to check what blade I had loaded ( Danny @Hembree). Went to unscrewing the baseplate and cap - pop! Top of the handle came unscrewed in a place it's never opened before. The threaded end of the cap was still attached to the top end but now I could see inside the monkey motions. Actually got a look at the off center weight that does the 3000 VPM, couple of tiny brass gears & lots of gleaming metal that hasn't seen light since it was built. Wrapped some rubbery shelf liner around the unexpectedly removed bit, gripped the top end, and avoided cutting myself. All's well, the handle went back together fine and the cap threads are now lubricated. So with all that set right, I used the Tuxedo knot to stir up plenty of lather, got in nearly four passes, and scored a smooth DFS. The Stahly being somewhat mild coupled with a sharp blade gives good shave & no errors. Splashed on the matching AS, and I gave the elbows a dose of patchouli, too. I don't remember if that's a Terry @Terry or a Jason @jtspartan thing... Good Shaves Y'all!
I think "yikes" about covers it. Glad no animals or humans were injured in the incident. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
Thanks Danny! The Thiers-Issard brand stands for excellence and I am very excited to obtain this razor at a reasonable cost. TI razors are very expensive and I try to stay within my budget. I am very fortunate to come across this razor.
Very nice Bruce! Thanks to Andrew's hint, I found Charcoal Goods website. Stand down everyone. Those handles are sold out in brass. They have em in SS!
I hear you, Robert! As much as I like straight shaving, it's good to take a break from it every so often. That's why I have 7 safety razors in my collection and they aren't collecting dust! Lol!
Thank you Gary! Relax about those adjustable Gillettes. You've found your joy in others. Keep the 195 & Slim in your collection or move them on as pleases you! Thanks Jeff. Many of those handles get sprung from over tightening, or gunked up when the O-rings leak. I was lucky when I spotted this one, cased, in an auction lot. Twice lucky that it's in great cosmetic condition & the buzzer still does. Clunky, awkward, needs to be rewound more than once per pass, but fun. It's does shave well with an alternate handle.
