Thanks for the BoS plug....Mr. Cawtuh(@Edison Carter ) PIFed that to me(both the soap&A.S). It smells nice, but I was just giving it the "smell test". You're right, personal preference appears to be the difference with Stoylin users. For instance, I doubt I'll be buying the Ben Franklin, as the "ingredients" don't appeal to me. You're in Canada, eh? Does that mean you just had the Sandpiper soap only?

Yes I'm way up north. I just have the Sandpiper body lotion as it was PIF'd to me as was any other Stirling products I have other than the BoS soap , which I ordered directly from Rod. They dont normally ship to Canada but he made an exception I guess.

    Good morning guys!
    Traditional Straight Razor Shave #95
    5/8 Wostenholm Square Point
    Semogue OC Badger Brush
Stirling Bay Rum SS and AS.
Last night I honed this razor for the very first time with my lapping films.
I had to go to my coarsest grit the 3 micron (8K) , then progressed to the
1 micron (14-15K) and finish with my 0.3 micron (50+K). This was my 3rd honing and suffice it to say that I am 3 for 3 in doing a fine job! Now, let me get on with today's report. I didn't bloom the soap, so with the tips wet, I was able to get a nice lather and enough soap for 3 passes and more. I could have stopped on the first pass WTG and it would have been a DFS+. Prior to this shave, my Wosty performed well, but not to this extent which is indicative of my honing with films. Second pass ATG, it would now be considered IBSS+ without touchups. I decided to chase the baby with my 1/2 pass that included the fool's pass which is against the grain on the moustache area. All I can say is wow! Throughout this shave, I used very little pressure whereas with my prior shaves I had to apply more pressure than I should've - hence, the necessity to hone this razor. Finished tbis shave with the matching Bay Rum and there was very little stinging. I had a minor weeper by my Adam's Apple and no irritation, but this was the best shave with this razor. Well, I only need 5 more traditional straight razor shaves to reach the magic number of 100. Guys, have a great Monday! 20190805_084845.jpg 20190805_084845.jpg

Nice post, Paul! When using a straight razor, shaving the mustache area is a difficult task. I know that you are experienced to know that the sharper the razor, the less pressure is needed which coincidences to fewer nicks. I keep my blade almost flat when I go WTG, XTG and the dreaded fool's pass (ATG). I go very slowly and deliberately when doing this area. The same holds true for the chin area.

    August 5th

In For August. Have a couple adjustables, a stick of Arko, and then will smatter my other straights and software. Got very busy personally and with the job last week. Tons of taxi service for 2 active teenagers (2 a day band camps) and my 82 yo dad who can't drive anymore (doc visits). August and September will remain that way. Post as I can, reading always. Wish there was time to respond individually like many of you do, but alas, just doesn't always work for me. Thanks everyone for the kudos and compliments on images and shaves from the ones I couldn't catch in the July 30DC thread.

My No Buy July....fared pretty well. I did fail though as I purchased the 2019 30DC LE brush and the 30DC Stirling LE 'Blood on Steel'. Just didn't want those to get away. There was also a July 31st purchase from Wild West Brush Works....a blank custom handle....also didn't want it to vanish forever....many of his resin designs are short supply one offs. But...there were no new razors purchased (didn't stop me from drooling and searching!). New hardware acquisitions....few and far between going forward. Pretty content with the April/May/June overspending......:sad027:

    Today's Shave:

    Proraso PS Red
PAA Doppelgänger Black Label SS (Homage to Sauvage)
    30DC LE 2019 Synthetic
    Merkur Progress
    Gillette WS
    PAA Doppelgänger Black Label AS

3 Pass DFS+. Excellent shave today. The Merkur Progress is from the TSD June 2019 Fathers Day raffle. Quite an awesome razor. Hefty, and infinitely adjustable. About my only drawback with it...the top design makes it tough for directly under the nostrils. But, no worries, almost every DE makes me reach for a kami to get that area touched up ;).

PAA's CK6 Doppelgänger Black Label and @jtspartan 's 30DC brush...easily created oodles of slickness for a wonderful aroma 3 pass shave. No nicks, cuts, weepers.

Finished off with the matching AS....smelling great, feeling great, hope everyone here has a Fabulous Monday!
