Some of us are cursed with grizzy bear hair. After getting a great smooth shave. It LOOKS like we could use a shave.

Thank you Clint! It was the first time I used the 3 micron lapping film and I am glad that I was right in doing so! My two Dovos didn't need to go to a coarser grit and they shaved very well. I learned that you have to make judgements on what path may be needed to make any razor more efficient and shave ready. I have been astute in purchasing used razors with the bevel already set so that honing would be simpler. I am at the beginner stage of using lapping films and quite honestly, I am pleased and surprised at my results thus far.

I was so confused on June 4th, that I tried to do Cinco de Julio a month early. After everyone laughed at me, I laughed with you, and put my popsicle sticks away. Then on July 5th, I just plain forgot. So presented on August 5th: The third and final shave with the 2017 LE 30DC Razor. I normally use a DE blade three times before I pitch it.

Used the 30DC 2019 LE brush, and K Shave Works soap. Did ¾ of a pass with the popsicle sticks, and said uncle. Apparently if you don’t protect the edge of a precision tool like this, it doesn’t stay sharp enough for a comfortable shave. Did the rest of the shave with the Mongoose I used last week. Finished off with Barbasol Brisk with added menthol crystals and Jasmine EO. Next June, I will make a new one I guess. Happy Monday, all!

The idea behind this thread was to allow a place where successful methods are freely shared without judgement. A place where experience is pooled and newbies can ask anything. If you’ve ever had a successful SR Shave, you likely have something to share! Thanks for sharing your experience, it adds to the wealth of knowledge found here.

Thanks, Chris! Those are true words! As a teacher, I learn from my students to be a better teacher as they have learned from me. I believe the same is true here. I believe we can learn from newbies as well as from the Yodas!

Thank you Terry! You might think it tough to find points in common with someone 50 years younger. I'm fortunate to retain much of my childishness.
Between Charlie's @wristwatchb helpfulness & Neal's @NCoxSTL quick folding under Enabler's pressure I've been looking into these anachronistic time pieces. I e-mailed Invicta about their search engines lack of correct answers when searching left handed watches. They responded with LINK #1 & LINK #2.
