    You are spot on, Gary! However, I have read things on this thread that I would've found out later than sooner such as the different types of soaps, creams, and safety razors if it was not for this place. As far as straight razor technique, I learned through other threads, forums and You Tube because there are very few consistent straight shavers in the 30 DC crew. However, that's ok because I learned about our regional differences that I normally wouldn't be exposed in my everyday life. All in all, you guys have enriched my life. Thank you.

    The Omega boar is such a great performer, yet inexpensive. To me, that's a great combo. My Semogue OC badger is a good brush and performs well. I bought it at a 40% discount from SRD closing. If I would have paid full price, then I wouldn't be happy with it. Realistically, I wouldn't pay the full price for any brush. Like anything else, price does not gaurantee quality, performance and longevity of items.

    Pulling the lever, or do we punch Chad's? Anyway - Omega Pro 10098 gets my vote. Either a fresh one to enjoy the breaking in, or use the knot from one you already have. Then buy another so you'll be ready for the next handle!

    Ah, but you can buy someone else's skill, but the satisfaction only lasts till the razor is dulled.

    August Adjustable Contrition Shave

    Modern Williams +++
    B-400 & O'Pro 98 knot
    Suribachi and cool water
    Gillette H-2 Slim on #9
    Fresh Voskhod blade
    Osage Rub Splash
    SOTD 08052019.gif In order to make amends for any perceived indignities to our Fearless Leader and to avoid a visit from everyone's favorite Russian body builder, I took one in the face for tonight's shave. Modern Williams. I know that's hardly a spanking for some folks, even preferred by a few shavers. This was +++ triple chilled. When I mashed the puck into the Old Spice mug it got a good tablespoon of Aqua Velva Cool Blue stirred in. Making the lather I crunched a medium large menthol crystal into the shave bowl and dissolved it with Osage Rub's alcohol. Trying to maintain my air of repentance there was no blooming. Straight to the dry puck with a shook out boar brush. Having experimented prior with adding AS to lather I was able to raise what amounts to a serviceable Williams mix. Next step in my remorsefulness was to load a fresh piece of fine Russian steel even though I have many other blades already standing in other DE razors. The blade holder is not a show piece, but a well worn, slightly brassy, not my favorite model, down right ratty, nearly old as I am, that I don't even remember where it came from. Only one setting for this style of shave - Number Nine. Three full passes, lower neck and edge of the chin clean up. I'm sorry to report I got an error free nearly BBS finish. Splashed on the high menthol Rub, twice to make sure I suffered plenty. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Stay in good graces with The Cartel or you might have to choose a shave like mine to make amends.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

    (@Dirtfarmer - I don't have any Feather blades at the moment else I'd have used one. ;))

    A blade securely supported between two tonque depressors works.

    Now if someone just plopped a DE blade on the end of a bolt?

    Who was that guy?
