I thought this would be an outlet, to tell stories about your Postal experiences.

Let me start by saying that several workers at the Kingood TX Post Office, shouldnt be employed there. Over the past 23 years of using this site, there have been some very very poor service. It seemed to get better, over the last couple of years, until today.
I was out of town, and expecting a straight razor delivery, from the Ukraine. They tried to deliver two days ago, but there wasn't anyone to sign, but no note was left. Today, I went to the post office, expecting it to be there. There was a female with an attitude, helping an elderly lady, in front, or should I say, not helping. Saying she just got back from a long vacation, and couldnt help the woman find her mail. That should have ben a warning for me.
When my turn came about, I told the same woman it was an international package, and I had not been there to sign for it. Several minutes later she said she didnt know where it was, and couldnt do it, without a tracking number. I told her I had a tracking number, and asked her to look up where it was. Now she was pissed off. She said she couldn't at this time, and I told her she could, and would, with her computer, and the tracking number. She told me she wanted me to write the number down, in a snotty tone, and slammed the door, as she looked it up.
She came back and told me my wife signed for it 15 minutes ago. I told her that was funny, because my wife has been at work, since 7am, 25 mile away. She then said, in a sarcastic tone, "Well that is something you need to bring up with your wife". I told her it never happened, and to look up the GPS llcator, where, and when it was signed, she said she couldnt do it. Now she got my really pissed off attention, and I then demanded her supervisor. Who I then explained everything to, and she looked it up, telling me the signature was signed on the slip, at my address, according to the locator. Not it made sense, the delivery person just forged my wifes signature and possibly stuck it in the box, after I left for the post office. Nice guy, but he cuts corners at times. Several times during my conversations with the supervisor, the PITA employee, told me to leave the line, so others could be helped. I am sooooo tired of postal workers attutudes. If they were in private busnesses, they would be fired. I went home, retrieved the razor, let the supervisor know what had happened. I also told her that employee's attitude was from hell, and since she works the customer service area, then her attitude should suck the way it does. I also advised her that if it happens again, then complaints will be filed on the employee, as well as her, for not correcting her attitude. I also told her that todays incident didnt have to happen, if the employee was not so lazy, and would just do her job. Of course, if the mail carrier hadnt cut corners, it wouldnt have happened.

Well, that's my rant, and I'm sticking to it.

    Well.....
Not standing up for the people at your post office.
You may never get another delivery again.
Been there, done that, moved from there since that kinda stuff happened.
I keep my delivery guy happy, no matter how things go, not right, but........
I need my mail, and they know it!
    My guy likes burbon.
    Good luck!

My rant(though not comparable to that of @DaltonGang) is that I once went out to get my mail, and said something that I thought the mail carrier would find funny, but it was a different mail carrier that day, who didn't get my silliness and said so with a bit of an attitude herself. I knew from the first word I heard that it wasn't the regular carrier, who is very friendly and upbeat in her work. (I should add, the carrier's head was out of view, which is why I "presumed" it was the good one).

At the other extreme, I am lucky to have a carrier who is actually thoughtful & nice. A couple of times, I came to the door on crutches (following knee surgeries) and he asked me what happened. Since then, he realizes that I do not move quickly, and gives me enough time to get to the door, when he has to deliver a package.

I recently moved into a new postal service area; however, I kept the P.O. Box at my "old" branch. The gub'ment staff there is friendly and incredibly helpful. It's not real busy, so if there is a line, it's never long. I don't even have a mailbox at my new place. A P.O. Box is more secure, helps keep junk mail to a minimum, and it provides less opportunities for purveyors of mailbox shenanigans and thieves. I've gone electronic where ever I can, so I pick up mail and packages at my P.O. Box about once a week. Everything I don't need goes straight into the recycle bin they keep there. FedEx and UPS even delivers to a P.O. Box these days. The staff even lets me borrow their dolly when I pick up heavy or large packages at the window. Works for me. :)

As of a couple years ago, Amazon Prime started their own deliveries and wouldn't/couldn't deliver to my P.O. Box. So I dropped Prime and saved a few bucks. Amazon vendors that won't deliver to my P.O. Box (a lot of them do) don't get my business. I care not whether this sends ripples through the supply chain. :happy097:

It's not just the post office employees. From fast food counter help to "professionals" like doctors and their staff, customer service workers seem to think they are in charge and we don't have a choice but to take their abusive attitudes. I'll find an alternative for my services when I'm disrespected, and let the company I no long do business with know why I fired them.

I have a good relationship with my mail carrier when he's not on vacation. That seems to happen for two week every other month. When someone is filling in I do the same restraining of my small dog out of my sense of personal responsibility. The counter employees at the post office don't often have the same good attitude as the folks who walk my urban area. Maybe they need to get outside and breathe some fresh air.

@Terry just gives them bourbon. I'd deliver mail to his house for that sort of payday, but I'm a little far away. ;)

I'm not worried about it. The mail carrier is good, and helpful, he just cuts corners, to save time, and that is what started the ball rolling, with Miss Attitude. I view some government jobs, the same as Socialism. It gives too much security, breeds laziness, bad attitudes, and disrespect for those they serve.

    That's great.
Everyone (else) has problems with my mail man. I hear where they called and complained about him from so many people, for years. I haven't had much of anything you would call issues. But I handle the situation just a little differently than the others do. :D
    Well....
and....I get my mail, so far.
I did have problems with packages being left on the porch to get rained on and drug off by animal's. I put an extra large mail box on the porch. He'll drive past the regular box, get out of his vehicle, put the package in the big box, then raise the flag so I know there's mail. He doesn't do that for any one else, ever.
So..... it's worth it to me. What's a Christmas, new years, thanks giving.... gift cost anyway??

I had a similar issue to Dalton Gang with a package delivery. And it also was a razor I had bought on the bay. So I'm watching the tracking number on a daily basis because I can get pretty anal when it has to do with shaving gear. Then one day I check the tracking info and it says "Delivered". So I get home and check the mailbox and anywhere else I've found small packages stashed such as on an outside window sill or behind a planter. Nothing. Our carrier at the time was a pretty nice guy. Would always listen to his music and sing, pretty loudly, while walking the neighborhood. So, a couple days go by and still nothing. Two days after it had said "Delivered" I was home when Terry was delivering the mail and I said, "Hey Terry. Maybe you can help me out." I told him the situation and he said let me see what I can do. The next day he delivers the package. So the following day I run into him again and was extremely thankful and asked "So, what happened?" He said, there were two packages that had "fallen behind some stuff on the truck" and one of them was mine. I again thanked him profusely and asked him what he liked to drink. He said Peach Brandy. Ok. So I bought him a bottle and gave it to him a day or two later. But as I reflect on this whole thing, if he's the normal carrier and the delivery date was a day he was working and on the shift, then he's the one who screwed up. And talk about cutting corners. What this tells me is that he is recording packages as being delivered when he loads them onto his truck, not when they are delivered. I see that as a big No No. I never had any other issues like that with packages after that. But it also put me on notice that these guys will do stuff because they are lazy. Terry no longer works our route. And I never complained to anyone about what he was doing. But if it happens again, you can bet I'll be down at the post office to complain. I agree. Some people shouldn't have jobs. And it's not just the post office. You can find people like that in every industry. No industry is immune to lazy, unmotivated, angry people.

At times, an order I'm expecting will arrive at the USPS one stop before my town, Greensboro, NC. Then all of a sudden it gets shipped back to the point of origin. Now if this happened maybe once a year, it wouldn't seem so bad. But this happens on the average of 5-6 times a year. I think they picked some employees with the lowest Civil Service scores.
