Triple Milled Puck. Great dupes of many popular scents. L’Orange Noir (Terre d’Hermes) is a personal fave. Fresh Vetiver and Platinum nice too. Perry @PLAla is a huge fan of American Blend (Rive Gauche), iirc.

No. The official temps for DFW are read at DFW airport. And those....since 1984 when I moved here, have always seemed low compared to the suburbs where there's more concrete. That 127 is heat saturation, combined with where the engineers thought it was good idea to put the outside air temp sensor on the RAM. It had been sitting in the sun about 4 hours since last moved. 105 is closer to the real number, but still more than what was read at DFW today. We are in a heat advisory, with heat index of 105 to 110 expected til Thursday evening. It's only about 45% humidity. So....it's DRY heat. :happy097:

They are small, too! The pucks are quite small in diameter. You could always turn your own bowls for them with your new lathe!

Patrick, you can never go wrong with a Rockwell 6c. It is a fantastic razor.

I never tried a bowl yet Jason. Will eventually get the nerve to give one a go.

Lol! No, the term is flux. When I was in 8th grade, I made a tube radio and Mr. Pomfret (deceased), my shop teacher, used it to refer the hot liquid solder.

Thanks for all the compliments today gentlemen! In usual 'get r done' fashion.....saw some candy get devoured, many great images and combinations of shaving hardware and software, a couple growing kids (and grandkids), a karve thinking it was about to shave sushi, a grateful dad get shaved, and much more! Always a great read and fun to be a part of.

    Adjustable Arko August!!

    August 7

    Razor - Soviet Consul (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
Brush - Stirling 24mm Finest Badger
    Post - Alum

August is moving right along! I had a bit of an early start today with a ride from just south and west of here to Barnes Jewish, Siteman Cancer Center. I had the great privilege to drive a remarkable lady named Edit. Nope, I didn't leave the "h" off of that. She's originally from Hungary, lived in the U.S. since 2001 and still has the most wonderful Eastern European accent. She has been undergoing chemo and radiation for a brain tumor for 12 years. She was hoping that she'd hear today that she was done. I hope she got the news she was looking for. The most amazing part was her entire story....the cause of her cancer. Well, sometimes you can't say for sure, but when you are 19 years old and a Garden Technician in your local town in Hungary and it happens to be 1986 and the Soviets have a little problem with a place a couple hundred miles away called Chernobyl.............yeah. It took until 2007 for it to show itself, even though she has stories of what happened to her other friends and members of her community. Heartbreaking. Terrifying. Yet, here is how she described her situation, more or less word for word. "I am not sick and have never been sick. I am healthy and happy. I just have cancer." How can you have a bad day after being told that? It also reminded me of another strong woman who said the following to her son when she found out she had cancer. "Don't worry about me. I'm not sick, and I'm not dying from cancer. I'm just living with it now." Thanks, Mom, for sending a reminder from Edit to keep things in perspective.

Anyway, back to Arko today and the Stirling badger to whip it up into its finest self. The Russian pairing is certainly not radioactive, but it is an amazingly smooth and effective two pass shave that allowed the baby to show up early with just a touch up or two. Great end to a day that started in such a unique and surprising way. Hope you had a great day too and here's to an even better Thursday!
