I have been there I can understand wanting to be calm. Sometimes I get myself calmed down and then I want the person on the other end to piss me off. Then they are usually nice and fulfill my wishes and I hangup mad that I didn't get to chew some arse.

Jen, I think I'd side with Tracy on this on. It's always good to discuss options. If it's really your debt, you should have the lions share of the decision making authority. The car's another issue...

Powder coating seems okay, but I think I'd go for a plain ol' replating. Closer to original with the same amount of prep work.
