    jluc smelling pretty

    Love the picture, Jason!
    Thanks!
To my nose Terror is mostly peppermint with a lemony background. Nice but nothing spectacular. The star of the show is the synthetic cooling. It's been over six hours since I shaved and I'm still feeling the cooling effect. Kinda unfortunate that peppermint was chosen as the dominant scent because it smells like it's mentholated. Defeats the purpose in my opinion.

Cake baking happens more often when running the oven supplements heating the house. The stove top and microwave are preferential this time of year. As to carbs, I started paying attention to restaurant advertising years ago. I noticed a trend and used it to feed my growing children. The formula for those TV commercials repeated itself like this; Some kind of meat & a compatible veg or three, slathered in sauce or gravy, covering carbs like pasta, rice, potatoes, or bread. Using that as a pattern I could pull from the freezer chicken, beef, pork, or seafood. Veggies tend to be fresh and seasonal, but canned or frozen happened too. Some kind of flavor in a colloidal suspension? I learned to make roux as a child, corn starch thickens juice from cooking the meat, or if I was lazy a can of Campbells soup or ready to use gravy or sauce. The carb base of the food pyramid was adjusted for each persons needs. The three boys might get the same amount of topping but a double scoop of pasta to fill their plate & belly. If Ruby Tuesday & food joints advertise a "new " menu special I did & can still duplicate it with little thought or shopping. Just pantry scrounging.

I was about to send the boys out on a recon mission to find you. Guess you smelled them in the neighborhood. No need for an overflow cabinet?!?! Say it isn't so!!! Keep the faith!

I've gotten close on a couple samples, but no such focus or concentrated effort on a full sized tub. I'm even still working my first stick of ARKO.

Monday is a day off for me so I decided I needed to clean out my desk, reorganize and basically just reset a bit. My left file drawer on my desk is a catch-all for shaving stuff. In it you will find 10 sticks of Arko, my plastic container with my African Black soap that I cut up and wrap. Some odds and ends soaps, after shaves, the vintage/antique stuff I collect, that kind of thing. It's also held a stash of Russian Steel. No surprises there. The right file drawer is about half actual files and the rest is odds and ends, mostly from the business. Cables for various electronic gizmos, lenses for the video camera my wife uses in her work, things like that. However, as I went through, I found.......blades. Really? I thought those were all stashed together in the other drawer. Time to consolidate and find out what's here. The following is the inventory of blades (in 100 packs or tucks) when you combine the two drawers.

    Voskhod - 900
    Sharp Star - 1415
    Rapira PL - 100
    Rapira Swedish - 50
    Rapira Stainless - 100
    Ladas - 100
    Astra SP - 100

    Total - 2765

I still have more downstairs in the den and in my storage box, but I don't think I have any 100 packs down there. Still, I know there's at least 150 more, plus the odds and ends in the shaving box (not all Russian but they count). So if I add 150 to the 2765, I stand at 2915 Russians present and accounted for, give or take a few. With how I shave, 3 shaves per blade, even if I shave every night of every year, which doesn't happen but we'll say it does, that means I have 23.9 years worth of blades. Let's round up to 24 - so I can shave until I'm 83 and never order another razor blade.

I remember having a goal at one point of getting enough Russians in the house to be able to never, ever buy another razor blade. If the shavepocalypse should ever materialize, I was going to be set for life. I'd say that's a goal I can cross off the list. I probably only shave around 300 times a year given my schedule and no-shave days. So that means 29 years actual which puts me at 88. If I can even recognize a razor by then I'll feel fortunate.
