This is another one that I took to 200k. It is efficient and needs only a light touch to cut even my most dense, coarse hair.

@Billyfergie had me in a Puma mood, so Puma 92 5/8+ Ars Divina, soap was ABC hard soap lathered with a Simpsons 57. A bit of ABC almond balm finished up a great shave.

Last night I shaved off the beard I have had since January in one pass. It was like peeling off a fake beard. One stroke down on the right side and one on the left and then dealing with the chin. Of course, I did touch up that first pass.

  12. These are super affordable. I paid $17 for this one. Salamander branded it as a wedge. The progression was 30-12 micron films followed by slurry to clear Coticule, then slurry to clear Thuringian followed by .5, .3 micron films and lastly 200k diamond pasted balsa. Since then I've either done more laps on the diamond/balsa or just stropped. Last night I just used the linen and horse hide. I'll go back to diamond before the next use. Still near shavette.

Pair of Fillys up today in an edge comparison from two recent jnat arrivals, both very good stones and I’m ready to see how they perform on the fine razors. It’s almost a draw. I want to say that the smaller, harder stone (details in the honing thread) makes a little smoother edge, but really it seemed to depend more on what part of my face that I was shaving more than which razor. Right now, draw.

Cream was I Coloniali Rhubarb Softening cream lathered with a Keyhole 4, and a dab of IC balm finished up. Baby dolphins envy my smoothness this morning....

  17. I’m taking this post as a sign... was debating changing out my Jungmeister’s wood scales for horn. And this pic cements the decision- it just looks so right!!! Beautiful Mike.
  18. Bout time you fessed up to hoarding Fillys! Nice!

  19. Thanks Tom
I agree the light horn scales work perfect.I tweaked the edge with a J-Nat followed with 150 Laps on Translucent Arkansas. It produced a wonderful edge. Not that the factory edge was bad.I just wanted it a little more sharp for my taste.Have a great weekend.
  20. lovely shave sir..
