Good sausage gravy and biscuits. Enjoyed several time when I briefly live in Charleston, West Virginia. I still make my homemade with theirs in mind.

    August Adjustables

    Sapone Di Paolo Arancione SS
    Surrey / VDH boar brush
    Suribach bowl, cool water
    '59 Gillette Fat Boy, GSB
    Pinaud Lime Sec AS Cologne
SOTD 08162018 1st use Sapone Di Paolo.gif First time trying the sweet orange EO veggie soap received in a trade with J.D @Jrdelgado . The scent off the puck captures the citric acid and oils flavor of orange peels. When I got at it with a damp brush the sweeter fruit flavor came on. Easy to load, quickly reached a creamy thickness, and kept taking water & getting glossier but didn't break. First pass with the 195 impressed with the soap slickness. Residual slip like few others, too. The scent kept it's strong oranginess through 3+ passes & rinsed easily off razor, bowl, brush, and face. Got a comfy no nicks DFS. Finished off with a splash of lime juice.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Relatively cold, sometimes the minimum temperature reaches 0, but i suppose that's nothing compared to other countries. In summer, temperatures can reach 37-40 on a really hot day.

Boy is this Burma Shave Cake Soap good! Best cake I've used(thus far). It is on the warm side(thus a far cry from Stoylin Glacial SDM), and although the AquaVelva A.S. did cool it down quite a bit at the beginning, I'm concerned the warmth may return. Next time I'll use the Glacial SDM aftershave with it. But I think I have a good match for this soap in the cold weather-the Clubman Reserve Whiskey Woods...we shall see... but as for the shave itself, it once again gave me great lathering-only 2 shaves with it, but you can't tell that by looking. Great skin feel.

I had my wife offer her opinion on the SV Sicilia and SV Cubebe soaps. While she liked both scents, she preferred the Cubebe and I agree with her choice as well. So @jtspartan, between the two the Cubebe wins in this household. The Shavemac loaded and lathered the Cubebe with ease. I am still amazed at how good this soap base performs. I decided to pull out the 47 Super Speed I got from @Primotenore and pair it with my last Gillette 7 o'Clock Blue blade. Three passes, touch ups and buffing my lower right neck caught the baby with ease. Overall just a fantastic smooth and close shave. I can't recall a better shave with a vintage TTO razor. A splash of the matching aftershave and my wife and I are off to visit my Mom for the day. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Busy week so far, gone by 5:30 am, home by 11 pm. Got in bed after midnight and slept till 8 this morning. Can't run with the big dogs like I used to.
Trying to read during a break in the action, but it's hard to keep up on this thread.
    Anyway......
Used my Travalong again this morning. Yesterday I was thinking, might have to focus this for a week or two to get it right. This morning, well that's not what's gonna happen, no need. I figured out how to set the head on the handle, that's half the battle. If anyone gets one of these, you snap the handle together, put your fore finger in between the two spines, grab the reast of it with the same hand, then use your finger to open the splines by pulling your finger in towards your hand, set the head on, relax your hand. The description seems more complicated than it is.

I can change blades now with relative ease so a two blade shave is possible without bloodshed during blade changes.

Now this is a mild or inefficient razor so two passes even with a new Feather each pass isn't gonna get me where I like.
This time I went 3 full passes wth a 4th pass on the neck for the face shave. 3 full passes on the head shave with som minor touch up aroun the ears and top of the head. A shave I would expect fom a MMOC or slant, no. But very acceptable to say the least. Repositioning the grip on this razor is the most difficult thing for me. There is no cap to ride so to speak. Even so, you run this like any other DE razor. The head flatter than you would think first glance against the skin. Just enough tilt to make the thing cut.
Whoever made this thing made it for travle, mild yet compact. The reason I can see it didn't catch on is its weird to grip, definitely not the easiest thing to learn.
I used two Feathers alternated between passes, with the Arko, it shaved well for a mild child.

Some may think, I'd never use one of those "scary" things on my face. Well, if you get the chance, but don't do it. Your missing out on a great razor. If I find another one, if the price isn't wildly out of line, it will come home with me

    To all
    Enjoy

Great photo and shave, Clint! My dad was born in 1947 and I found a ‘47 Superspeed and gave it to him last Christmas. He is not a shaving enthusiast at all but appreciated the gift. I had Chuck at ShaveHQ hunt down the 1947 and a 1951 that I gave to my father-in-law as his birth year razor.
