Just did a lot of catching up in here.

    Pam - happy belated.

Whoever was asking about how straights feel on the face - they will always feel different to a DE. The blade, even when sharp, is thicker and less flexible. You get a lot more feedback using a straight that you would with a DE. Calling it a light drag may be a way of describing it.

If you can get your hands on it, coat the blade in Tuf Glide. It will help protect against rusting and other damage:

No Caddy's here. Can't afford one...

And is the offender on this forum? If so, which thread?

Thanks for the suggestion. I will keep an eye out for that.

I thought the same thing originally, and every cold "coffee" I'd ever tried just didn't taste good. Most of those, however, are hot brewed, then chilled. This recipe is different, and is nowhere near as bitter as hot coffee chilled. The difference is that it's cold brewed, and it is surprisingly good. Will never replace hot coffee - just like hot tea, while I like it very much, will not replace iced tea for me - but on a hot day, cold-brewed coffee is quite nice.

You are, of course, referring to Toddy coffee, right?
I have one of those Toddy makers and it really does make good coffee.
You can either use it cold for iced coffee or cut the concentrate with hot water for a regular cup of coffee.
The only PITA is grinding a lb. of coffee at a time and then waiting the 10-12 hours it takes to steep in the fridge.

    10-12 hours?

I guess I am more of an instant gratification kind of person when it comes to coffee. That is like waiting on sun-tea.

    **Googles "toddy coffee"**

sorta, the link I provided earlier is one by Bodum for using a french press for making the coffee, but the same general idea, 10-12 steep (overnight, of course) then press. It suggests 1 bodum scoop per 4 oz of water, so it is pretty expensive supply-wise, but I find myself doing about 6 oz/scoop, can hardly tell the difference from the other option.
at first I was against the idea, but it's really pretty good - just remember to add cold water before you drink, because it actually makes a coffee concentrate!

    Argh. Really really argh.

I'm an hour south, but all my local TV channels are out of Pittsburgh. Not much more needs said other than it's been a very bad day up there.

not knocking it... I just don't have patience up here for it. But I remember all the ladies used to have their sun-tea pitchers out when I was a kid in KY. It was much better than the instant ice tea that I see so much of now.

Ah, the good old days. Not only will he be asking for the keys soon, his friends will all move in with you... treasure this time :happy102

Firmly rooted, unmoving, constantly in motion. I like trees.

Don't tell me that someone posted that "Kill the Wabbit" video again...

I got my first TSD order just a couple days ago and can testify to it's righteousness. Just blades and samples for me, but good stuff.

Make some sun tea for us while you're out there, will ya? Being a NW'er I'm required to drink coffee on a regular basis. Cold coffee is what I drink at my desk most of the time ;) I actually like iced lattes a bunch, but find I can drink way too many way too fast.

My heart goes out to the families of the fallen officers. That's every cop's family's worst nightmare. Time to say a prayer.

Incredibly quiet around here today... Hope your day wasn't overly exciting, Matt. Welcome to Saturday Night!

    Jim, master of TMI. :happy102
A nice shave in the evening always perks me up for a while. See ya'round later if you don't nod off.

evening everyone. Just finished watching Star Wars episode 1 with the little one. Wife is at mom's night out, little one is being sent to bed, dog was just kenneled for the night.... time for some piece and quiet... or to fire up the wahl and mow down a weeks worth of hair.

Yes I did as a matter of fact. It's my option for a "Kill the Cat" song if Jim's cat interferes with his new brush.
