there's a line from Days of Thunder that best surmises it*:

    "He's a Yankee?"
"If you're from California, you're not a Yankee. You're not really anything.
    "You said it."

*in all humorous, non-seriousness with my Cali friends

Texas Motor Speedway defiled motorsports when it was built. there's only four or five NASCAR tracks worth a damn anymore.

I prefer F1 (just imaging the NASCAR guys trying to race in that Malaysian rain!), I have to admit Hermann Tilke has done more than his fair share of defiling there. He'll never be forgiven for what he did to Hockenheim.

After I picked up the Parker and a few Pilot Varsities last week, i decided to start a journal again. I looked at what I wrote today, and I was amazed at how much my hadwriting had improved in just that one week. With that flex nib I picked up yesterday, I can do a reasonable inpersonation of Spencerian script from the early 1900s. Trying the italic nib out was also a (brief) treat. I think I'm hooked on the Esties and their renew-point. I can score either nibs by themselves or entire pens. It's really nice there when you come across a cheap pean with a good nib that's actually worth more than the asking price for the entire pen. :D

I thought the same at first, but it's a darn nice facility, with some actually good racing for a cookie cutter - as opposed to Charlotte, there's actually still passing and racing for the lead at Texas

I watch F1/IRL/Indy/cars-with-wings/etc. on occasion, but far too often it looks like a qualifyin' session to me....:ashamed001:D

 You mentioned the nib bit earlier, where's a good place to do some research? Or is just best to browse FPN?

I'm a fan of Richard's Pens. There's more info there than I can digest. I'll also just plug the nib number into Google, like "9128 nib", and see what it comes up with.

Ok all you FP users, I call upon your expertise. I need (read: want) to try and find a good, smooth writing FP that doesn't use sealed ink tubes like my Lamy (Safari, fine nib). I bought the pen based on recommendations that it was a good starter pen, and it is. I didn't pay very much attention to it when I ordered it, and also ordered an ink sampler pack from Noodler's that I'd like to try out.

If it helps, I'm a lefty, have small to very small handwriting, and I'm not looking to break the bank so we'll go with <$100 (less if possible).

    Aaaaannd GO!

I'm very new to the FP world, but found a lot or recommendations for Wality pens. The prices are nice and affordable. http://retrodesk.com/

I've seen them recommended on FPN and the review well across a couple different websites. I think I'll end up with the 77D piston fill one of these days, but I kind like the exposed nibs more than the masked nibs.

Ugh.... well when it rains it pours I guess.... Our clothes dryer just quit putting out any heat. Guess I will be spending a lot of time at the laundromat again.

    On the plus side....

Finally used the long bulldog style handle I got from Cooncatbob with a NEW. Very very nice. I suppose I should go back and continue the R89 tests, but honestly, I don't see how the R89 could outperform the shave I just had.

bummer Justin....gas or electric? probably just a heating element, shouldn't be too difficult to fix...

    good morning everyone!

Agreed, should be easy once you find it.

It is electric. I am actually hoping it is a thermal fuse, which would be much cheaper and easier to fix. I won't know until I tear it apart, which might be tonight before my wife gets home and tries to stop me. I don't know why she gets so nervous about these things.... Actually, it a stacked efficiency unit so finding it could be a challenge...

I suppose I ought to go take a look at those pens everyone is chatting about. Certainly can't get one at the moment even if I wanted one.

Random thought...can you be arrested for DUI/DWI on a riding lawnmower/tractor while on your private property?
