Thursday mail call is 2 vintage full Avon aftershave bottles with their boxes. On the left is Cavalier from 1989; on the right is Blue Blazer. The Blue Blazer I’m not sure when it was made so if any of you know comment below. I got both these aftershaves for about less than $20 total on eBay.
From the 60's to the mid to late 70's the gay 90's (1890's) look and lettering was very popular with Avon. From @gorgo2 and @RyX Blue Blazer is similar to Pinaud Clubman. Though I've never had the opportunity to try it (Blue Blazer that is), it sounds like I'd appreciate it.
I'm away from my Command Center, but can give the details on Blue Blazer when i get home. You might search at Basenotes.com. Tapatalk Spam Tag
I have a big ole bottle of Blue Blazer. Just used it last week! The bottle above may date to 1964 & has a standard screw top under the red cover much like many Avon products. I assume the scent has crossed the decades like many vintage offerings. I find it a little on the sweet side on initial application. As that dries down there is a scent reminiscent to Old Spice. It's supposed to be a clone (Not by Avon! Yup many are.) of Caswell-Massy's discontinued Jockey Club. That scents consisted of; Bergamot, Lime, Jasmine, Geranium, Amber, Ylang ylang, Sandalwood, Musk To compare with Shulton's Old Spice the citrus, jasmine and geranium are shared. It's listed as; Top Notes Orange, Lemon, Spices, Clary sage, Anise, Aldehydes Heart Notes Cinnamon, Carnation, Geranium, Jasmine, Heliotrope, Pimento berry Base notes Vanilla, Musk, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Benzoin, Tonka, Ambergris.
Avon Island Lime Super Cycle 5 oz. This is Avons version of Old Spice Lime. It is a more masculine scent, with a heavier emphasis on musk, and a strong lime scent. This is a little easier to come by, than the Old Spice version, and not as expensive. Still, not as readily available as other Avon Aftershaves. Great smell though. For a full bottle, at $10.53, it was a steal. It is missing the handlebars. But, I wanted it, for the juice.
Just got in the mail today Avon Starring For Men aftershave that I bought off of eBay for about $16 after shipping and sales tax.
There's a good write up at basenotes. Except for the bay rum component (Just me, not a fan) it does sound like it might smell decent. It's also discontinued so if you like it buy it up.
Shulton Old Spice 2 1/8 oz Travel Aftershave 5 oz Soap on a Rope. The soap smells very strong. That's a good thing. Also, the Aftershave is full and still smells great.
Picked this up Today at a Flea market. $5.00 Bucks. Sadly all Empty. Oh well can’t win em All. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There ya go! Nice batch of vintage matching hardware. Fill em up with your choice of consumables. How's the knot in the brush?
