Wonderful picture, Perry! Sounds like the weekend was a blast! Thanks! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Very nice shave to start the week, Perry! I'm glad you had a fun weekend at the lake. I bet Wilson had a great time!
I agree Charlie. Almost all lather problems come down to one of 2 things. More product or more water.
August 26, 2019 Karve with E Plate Gillette 7 o’clock Yellow BSB-2 with 2 band Vie Long Fan A&E Frozen Mojitos Myrsol Agua de Limon I decided to pull out the Karve E and F plates to finish off the month. I really enjoy the scent of the A&E Frozen Mojito soap. I do wish it had a little more chill. I loaded the Karve E plate with a new 7 o'clock yellow and went with 3 passes. After touch ups and buffing my lower right neck, I ended up with a BBS shave. This had to be one of my smoother shaves with the E plate. A splash of Myrsol Limon and I am to enjoy Atlanta traffic along 285. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
What a way to start the week! Congrats on the BBS. Your gear and photos always impress, Clint! I hope this week is better than last.
Problem solved using the gear you chose. Rule intact, good job. Those subtle adjustments of Technique are what this is discussion is all about. Now you know how to use your brush of choice with that or most any soap. While some folks have many choices of hard or software, teaching folks with limited supplies how to "make it work" is why we are right here. You now have a lesson to share with the next new student. Welcome to Soap Mastery! Olive oil soap from Syria? I think Neal @NCoxSTL has a favorite maker of one of those. That's still a common issue for many of us. If you figure out something besides "don't over shave" let us know. Usually it's blamed on odd swirly hair growth patterns. Trust the guy with the bald headed three stooges avatar on this one. Stop counting shaves. Let the blade tell you when to refresh. Going "Excalibur" as an exercise in blade longevity is noble. Might want to save it for some time in the future when all other Techniques are solid and unchanging. I'm about as frugal as the average Wet Shaver, but blades are cheap and get changed at the slightest feeling of tug with no counting needed.
Survey Update-After seeing Cookies&Cream tied with Some Both Some Other, C&C has jumped back in front, leading by 5. C&C looks good to take this, but I'm not projecting a winner until the last day, given this see-saw survey.
Nice shave this morning with Razorock Lime Burst Soap, then Clubman Reserve Gent's Gin. It was good to get the Stoylin Frost Drops into the soap puck. I was too light down at the neck area where I always have trouble, as I've been talkinabout of late. I believe I've discovered my September Focus already-work those tough neck areas better. As for the Clubman, I thought I might have slathered on a little too much at first, but as it has settled into the skin, it feels nice. (That's probably the case with ALL aftershaves-too much at first settles down to OK later).
08/26/19 RazoRock 400 Noir Plissoft Synthetic Shaving Brush Timeless Lathering Bowl Arko Option 5 Razor Astra SP Blade Nivea Post Balm Pinaud Clubman Reserve Whiskey Woods After Shave Excellent shave this morning from an unusual razor sent to me by Clint @clint64 a while back. This is an odd ball for sure and Clint apparently knows that I like the odd and unusual. The Option 5 to me appears to be cross between a cartridge razor and a DE razor. It is a heavy razor and the handle takes a little getting used to. I pressed the two buttons; the top cap came off. I loaded a fresh Astra SP and snapped the top cap back on. A very neat way of loading a blade. Whipped up some de-scented Arko and went to town. So how does it shave? Very good. The angle is easy to find and it seems to have a “wide” spot. It is a razor that is easy to shave with once you get used to the weight and the odd handle. I feel if you are coming from a cartridge to DE the transition would be nice. I am used to a round handle on a razor and the oval cross section just feel different in the hand but it is controllable. The razor is very effective and smooth. Two passes and a few touchups and this shave was in the bag. I will definitely be shaving with this oddball again! Finished up with some Nivea post balm and a splash of Clubman Reserve Whiskey after shave. Y’all have a great day. It is raining in Alabama. Thanks Clint!
Gem ClogPruf Gem Stainless PTFE Semogue BC Texugo CO Bigelow SC Superior 70 Bay Rum A quick and simple two pass shave. I will need to switch things up to see which razor I take on a 10 day bicycle trip starting next week. Most likely it will be a tech that I am not concerned about losing. No brush, a stick of arko, and shaving without a mirror isn't going to make for the best shaves.
