Well, the posh version of entropy is that it is as you say, a function of order and chaos. However, a bloomed version (!) Is that the universe is pretty much one directional in its manner. You can stop still and you can go forward, but you can't go backwards without an external input.

In soap parlance, this equates to your pre bloomed soap being something forever different once you bloom it. You cannot "unbloom" it. Entropy won't allow it lol.

Thus, unused, unbloomed soap can have a habit of going rancid (chaos) if left unused. I bought my puck in a stable, ordered form.

You came here asking for help. We have offered you advise and you choose to either ignore it or try to prove you are smarter than the other people posting. We are not the ones having an issue lathering a soap that almost lathers itself. At this point I will bow out of this conversation. I see no need to be trolled. Good luck to you.

I'm probably going to regret this....

A way to bloom your puck without blooming your puck is to use a knife (or something)....and shave desired amount off puck into scuttle/bowl/whateveryouuse....and bloom there. Puck Entropy solved. If I missed someone suggesting this...apologies!

Me? I've started....maybe 4-5 weeks ago blooming some of the SS/SC I have (container based, not tube). Barely a tablespoon of warm water. The 3 pucks that now have permanent homes in a wooden bowl, the same. My lathers have improved, in my opinion. FWIW. YMMV.

Thanks for bringing us back to The Path. There are several generally agreed upon Techniques taken as the right way to learn Wet Shaving. They are more centered around razor handling. Not to any specific brand or type, just hint, tips, and tricks that get New Shavers quick repeatable results.

Lather is a variable. Brand of soap. Type of brush. Face or bowl agitation. Hardness of water. Desired consistency. Each of those is particular to the individual. Let's all take a breath, relax, let the tensions flow away. Since each person makes their lather as they like it there's no reason for argument. If someone asks for help attaining better lather that opens discussion between that 30DC Member and anyone who choose to respond. Gentlemen, good day.

An odd reply and one that isn't necessary. I am trolling nobody, it called discussion. If you feel otherwise that is your business but please do not put labels where they are not warranted or deserved.

If you don't like to see your advise challenged or debated, i would suggest that you are not offering advise, rather instruction and orders. This is a frendly discussion board. If you can't give advice in a frendly manner i would suggest you don't bother.

    Good day.

I would agree....I don't put "blooming" and "cheating" in the same thought.

    Good idea!

I did think of that but, well, i cba with it tbh lol.

I have used a trick i read somewhere of resting a very damp brush on the puck for a minute. It kinda worked but i still only got 2 passes. Also, the bowl is not designed for blooming. I would have to take the puck out and put it in another bowl and well, cba with that either.

You missed my point. You said that you don't bloom because you fear the physical change of the soap due to mineral contamination of the water. You are going to have it regardless of hydration method. You're shave, you're way is my motto. Don't bloom, but like I said, why work harder, when you can work smarter. As far as the entropy concept, the universe and everything else is multi-directional and not one directional. Yes, you can decrease entropy, but the 3rd Law of Thermodynamics states that as temp decreases entropy decreases. However, things are always in movement (kinetic energy). Temp is the measurement of the avg kinetic energy. Absolute zero is when a substance doesn't have any molecular or atomic movement which is impossible as is achieving absolute zero which is 0 on the Kelvin scale and approx -273.14 Celsius and -459.65F. It means that you can't get any colder. Brr!
