I agree, Jim. I find that I can get the same results with any of my brushes, whether Badger, Boar, or synthetic. I will say that a dense Badger does seem to get there quicker for me, but they all work with any of my soaps or creams. For my it just comes down to my preference on a given day, which honestly usually means a Synthetic, just due to the ease of care.

I still have my slide rule from High School and one or two from a dear Uncle who used them at work.

Calculators were starting to become popular when I was in High School, but our Chemistry teacher insisted that we learn how to use a slide rule. He had a big slip stick like this one mounted above the chalk board:
    1.jpg

He taught us to how to get results in 3 sig figs, and we had to learn where to place the decimal point. He did us a huge favor by making us learn this way, although we all belly-ached about it at the time. He was one of my favorite teachers in High School. I called him several years ago to thank him and to let him know he was a key person in my life that inspired me to become a chemical engineer. He retired from public schools and went on to teach for several more years in a private school. He loved teaching, and he made chemistry real for his students. I have the utmost respect for him. Although we haven't met in person, you remind me of him in some ways, Joe. You chemistry teachers are a good bunch. :)

No Sir. I may be just blessed with good water here, but haven't seen the need to bloom the soap yet.
