Thanks Jim! I'm trying out different setups, cropping close, and don't need to show a mixed tub of Frankensoap that has no label.
They aren't common. I see so many more boar, badger, or synth. Gives me the urge to Focus and figure out how to use it.
I've got a bid in, too. Different watch I'm sure.

Less than 20 hours until the end. It's suspenseful being the only bidder.
Put up a photo? Maybe someone can snake it out from under you!

I had to go back and check - your dining room. That makes a difference.
Can you see them stumbling out the door? VVVRRRoooom!

Dupe if Creed Aventus. Many folks love it. For me, it is just okay. Aqua Velva or Brut rank higher on the Max Headroom List of Most Glorious Stanks.

I’ll give it a Texas wet shaving newbie try.

When I think Gary....I think awesome vintage Gillette collection. A person who likes and excels with precision shavers, minimal blade exposure most of the time, small shaving angle but still efficient and smooth. Don’t forget...oh yeah, he’s got that Cooper Monobilt (on my want list). A little opposite. And he lurks in the straight razor threads. Hmm...Adventurous too. Couple positive thoughts about the Blackland Dart.

So...if you’re thinking modern precision shaving Gillette...maybe a Feather AS-D2. Adjustable maybe? Rex Ambassador.

Something like the Monobilt? Karve, Timeless, or Blackland Dart or Blackbird. Lots of blade exposure and weight with those 2 though. Many other options of course. Eye candy right here every day in the 30DC to ogle and research.

Straights maybe? That subconscious lurking. Now you’re drinking from a fire hose.....Solingen 5/8 or 6/8 blades hard to beat for starting out. Good number of new options mostly Dovo or Boker for off the shelf new production. Vintage? Still....Solingen steel hard to beat. Some vendors offer good values ‘shave ready’. I’ve purchased from Razor Emporium, keep them on my hunt list.

Hope it helps in some small way to kickstart the decision process.

    18/30.

    I have the mid-DC blues :(

3rd shave with this blade and i had to check this thread to see when i put it in as i felt it to be long in the tooth (it isn't).

Another day, another lesson: I need to start shaving with my glasses on. When i got to work yesterday, i went for my morning tinkle and looking in the bathroom mirror, though i had left my breakfast on my face :ashamed001:. Not so. It was dried blood in two spots.
Shaving witj glasses on is a challenge! But it has the added bonus of me being able to see the shave better. I used them today and i don't think its something that is going to go away.

I had a pre-shave wash with my aleppo soap. It really helps bring out the whiskers.
Used the 404. Lost a few hairs. Again. This isn't something i have tracked up to now, but i will going forward. Current hair loss: 10.

I got loads of soap off the puck. Put the first few swishes down on my face before finishing loading. Lathered up no bother. I thought today i would get 3 passes of it but alas, it died on its arse again on #3. No so bad as yesterday but die it did. The comment about lather dying by a previous poster came to mind. I am becoming more convinced that this isn't a soap loading issue and that the knot just isn't up for it. Odd.

Crap shave. Much swishing and swashing and buffing etc. I have two weepers, a red neck from overshaving and a DFS-shave overall.

    Meh.

I did finish off with Arko Gold AS so i smell nice at least :)
Lets see what tomorrow brings, if its more of the same i might just grow a beard...

Hi all and a TGIF morning.
Started on my GEM Juniors, first up, the first one I owned. Gonna be a long, long, day. So I decided after the second pass on the mug I'd do another, well that worked out so good I went for a fourth full pass. I have one small weeper low on the neck but I am smooth like glass. Nice!
Well the old gord got the treatment with 3 full passes to keep up with the other whiskers. Bowling Ball smooth on top, nice! Should last for a while, at least till afternoon anyway.
Switched to Stirling Spice for the day, not my favorite scent but not bad. The bottles have new product in them, I got a couple that are about half full, the liquid is brownish so not willing to use them. I still like the look of the old bottles so I'm using them for that reason.

Put some Nivea on for all day wear, it can't compete with the spice in scent so it's just a face cream.
    All
    Enjoy

Glasses on shaver here also. Every shave no matter the tool being used. I like keeping my skin sealed. Even though there’s muscle memory of straight vs kami vs DE/SE that is eventually acquired, tool size/shape variety dictates (for me) good vision of blade landings.

I think the problem your reporting is no fault of the soap or brush or probably not how your using them. I think that your soap lather issues are because of the prewash soap you mentioned in the post. Minuscule amounts can wreck a brushes ability to make good lather.

Yeh, that is a good point actually. However i don't always use it and i do rinse clean afterwards.
I have had the thought that removing the rubble of the day with soap exposes the clean skin to the blade edge and perhaps it is this which tarnishes my shave with this razor, however without it i notice my shave isn't as close. The poisening of the lather is an interesting idea. I shall not use bar soap tomorrow and see how that goes!
