I can only imagine! I bet things have picked up for you too, in the economic downturn we've been in.... I'm not too happy about that, either. But, there is one thing you said that bugs me.... he's our President. Like it or not, voted for him or not, support him or not (and I think it's well known I'm a big fat NOT on all of those).... he is still the POTUS, and being a citizen makes him your's as much as every one else's.... /rant
yeah.... I had taken it that there was infection involved.... Good morning everyone. I don't know if it is a sign that the RR is sharp enough, but it sliced through a mole on my neck that had not been bothered by any razor in 6 months. For those of you who use the glass AH bowls.... How do you label them? I tried labels that I can print on the computer but two things happen. First, they fall off (so I glue them on with tougher glue) and then they start to get moldy looking after a while. I have tried using a label gun (electronic printer variety) and got the same results. I have tried directly writing on the glass with a sharpie, but that wears off very quickly. I am about to try the older plastic label gun wear you have to manually squeeze to impress each letter on the plastic. I assume I will have the same adhesive issue, but maybe it won't get moldy looking. So far I can still figure out which white soap is which; but I can't say I won't mix one up eventually. Of course now I am thinking about the white printed labels on the TSD aftershaves. Why haven't they fallen off? Will they get the same moldy look eventually from sitting in a damp bathroom?
the old plastic labels sound like a good idea. You can also try covering the paper labels with some clear packaging tape(completely seal around the label, not just the label) or label the lid (not as easy to see while sitting on the shelf)] Or use a color coding system
Good morning Justin & Bong! I haven't tried labeling anything yet, so I won't be any help....but the ones from a label maker aren't working? Something like a Brother? That's what I'd use, but I don't know how well it'd hold up....and I'm guessing not too well, now.... Well, I just finished breakfast, I'm off to bed, gotta get up at noon to get ready for work...
Morning Bong! Thanks for the suggestions. I thought about labeling the lid, but like you said, it isn't as easy to see and the shelf I keep these on are above my head. I did try the plastic tape; however, with the vertical and horizontal curvature of the AH bowl, the tape didn't keep a perfect seal and moisture still got in. Once the moisture got in, it deteriorated fast. I have thought about embedding a label inside the bowl between the soap and the glass. I just haven't worked out what and how.
Morning Matt, Yes, I have tried the Brother Label maker... at least I think it was a brother. It was a different model. I wonder if I tried a different version of their label blank.
Bong, it isn't that big of a problem, it is just something I was thinking about while shaving. Yeah... I shouldn't get distracted while swiping a wedge across my face.... But hey, maybe the thought train happened when I was rinsing.... How about I heat up a white poker chip until it is maleable and then press it to the inside of an AH bowl to take on the curavature. I then label the outside of the curve with the soap type and press it into the soap at the edge of the bowl.... Time to heat up some poker chips...
OK, cover the label with clear packaging tape, then cover the edges with clear nail polish. Don't make the labels too tall, wide. This will minimize the bending the label will have to do around the bowl.
I just grabbed a pic off of google images....I just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same type of thing. It turns out I have that exact one, though..... The labels I have are white, and are sort of an elastic-y, pseudo-paper - probably all synthetic material.....almost like a teflon plumbers tape feel to them? I have no idea how well they'd hold up, though.... alright, I gotta get to bed....see y'all later
Just randomly pick a container in the morning. Let it be a crap shoot to start the day. And Matt he got the job.... but I do not have to support him nor his policies. Slow morning at work. That is not always a bad thing though.
Sounds do-able and we probably have something like clear nail polish here. However, I am going to give the poker chip thing a try just because I haven't given any other half-baked ideas a try lately.
Greg, get a pack the bolzano blades too, and tell us if they are worth the coin. I thought both the iridium supers and polisilvers were discontinuted too, they must have brought the iridium supers back into production.
And after a year a soap runs out I replace it with a random soap. Eventually, years from now, I will wonder why I have 10 jars of soap that all look, smell, and shave exactly the same.
:happy102 Of course I can.. For now. But after a month or so of being ignored, would I know the difference from partilally milled Truefitt and Hill and partially milled Provence sante? They are both the same color and both feel the same to my fingers. On the other hand Pirates Cove Coconut I can ID by scent and p.160 by squishiness.
Well that's the price you pay for being a cheapskate and getting the soap pucks by themselves and not paying 20 dollars for a wooden bowl or 15 dollars for a terracotta pot. :rofl
Yup.. that is the price I pay. And will keep on paying it. Actually, do to this issue, I ended up remelting some of my glycerin soaps and putting them back into the tubs they came from. I do like the looks of the AH bowls better and would put them back in those if I could come up with a good alternative. Oh well. I suppose I ought to start working on getting breakfast started. Daughter, wife, and dog are all now up and moving. Of course, breakfast today might just be a trip to a local bakery...
I was going to wait for Squire to review them, assuming he gets a pack to try. I always enjoy the review and the microscopic image of the edge. So far I have three other blades I need to check out before I order any more. Treet DuraSharp, Treet 'black beauties', and Red IP's. The Iridium I had was a one-off so I grabbed it on a whim... sometimes I'm reluctant to break open a new pack of blades when I have loose blades lying around. :happy102
