    You and me both, Cal...

Quiet around here this afternoon. Just told the wife I was heading to Moscow (10 miles east) to visit a couple of shops and she actually said she wanted to come with me. She must be bored out of her skull (she hates antique shops).

I need y'all to send me some good razor hunting vibes :shocked029

Beautiful weather outside today. Its too bad the girl is being a crab and had an issue already at the Earth day celebration. I hope that the weather next Saturday is as wonderful as today. It would tank to be walking in the autism walk next week in snow....

Oh... I don't know if I mentioned that before.. The three of us (wife, daughter, and I) will be walking in a Walk-A-Thon next Saturday to help support some of the programs that they have for autistic kids.

Well, it appears the poker chip isn't maleable enough at boiling water temps, I would probably need boiling oil to do the job. At this point, I went ahead and re did the labels with the label writer, covered it in packaging tape and then a layer of clear nail polish. Time will tell if this worked.

Rogue sent me a text the other day saying she was employed again, which means she's probably busy and hasn't had time to post up here.
She hasn't posted much on our motorcycle forum either.
But yes, she is alive and well, as far as I know. :D

Checking in to make sure I'm not still in Bizarro World.

I mean, first my Buccos whup up on Atlanta 10-0, then immediately after that's over, I switch to the start of the Yankee game, where they give up 14 runs to Cleveland in the 2nd. It's 20-4 in the top of the 8th as I post this. :D

afternoon folks. it's been a weird day. the weather was gloomy all morning and then cut loose this afternoon. been raining steadily for a while now. nothing unusual for cenla.

the weird weather put my son in an equally weird mood. he and my daughter woke up from their naps at the same time. I just happened to be home alone at the time. he was in a major funk. tried to calm him by letting him watch the movie I was in the middle of. the movie was iron man with what's his name with the coke habit in the lead role. not a good choice. scared my son half to death. spent the rest of the afternoon earning my way out of the doghouse.

EDIT: what's his name with the habit= robert downy, jr. I think.

well, I'm sure you all remember the adventures of the first handle, hereafter known as PI1....got it all finished shaping and sanding, took pictures and was about to put the finishing coats of poly on, when the cat "attacked" it and broke a small piece of the base off.
well, some CA glue and poly later, it was good as new, except for the barely visible hairline crack. That resolved me to be unable to sell it, I can't bring myself to offer sub-par quality...sorry y'all. (antiques are a different story, of course :D), besides, I'd really like to keep my first finished brush, although I was willing to sell it.
Well, a week later I'm working on PI2 for Jen, using PI1 as an example for shaping purposes. All was going well til I stepped away for a few minutes...which turned into more than a few minutes...ended up taking the dogs out about an hour later - unbeknownst to us, but discoverdst my the Shih Tzu, the wind had blowing hard that night, knocking PI1 to the ground, and while running with the brush into the house, hit it on the concrete step, breaking another, different piece off of the base. Some CA later, back to good as new (again, except for the visible cracks). Well, it still works great, and one might chalk it up to bad luck with that handle.......
    WELLLL.....
back to PI2, finished shaping and initial sanding, I started to part off the end so I could finish sanding. Got down it turned down to just under pencil size, when I noticed it....four small cracks. Apparently, the cuts I made in the end of the stock to mark center got too much pressure from the tailstock :angry032 , and caused the cracks. It still feels solid, and with the 6 coats of poly, you can hardly feel it, it's still there....again, I'm unable to sell, but then I had an idea - I have the cosmetic brush knot I ordered, but it's quite larger than the 24mm hole I predrilled for the silvertip knot....well, 45 minutes of rotary tool work later.....

Thanks everyone for the good hunting vibes today. Man, did they ever help!

I only visited one antique shop and left several nice razors behind (the same shop had NONE only 3 weeks ago). Here's what I walked away with:

I posted these in The Haul with questions (I'm not real sure about the ones on the left and right). The little guy (a travel tech, I think) looks completely unused. Too bad it didn't have its case. I've been thinking about trying a Super Adjustable for a while now and this one is in great condition. The old blades are fun too, but I won't use them. If I ever do a shaving display, they'll be part of it.

So, here's what I left behind:

1912 Damascene short handle, nice shape - $13
    1912 long six-sided handle , also nice shape (not ornate) - $13
Two flare tip SS that were $9 each
    A restorable straight (5/8 american steel) $12

    ...and a couple of others.

I know, Cal, Pam and others will probably think I'm nuts for leaving the SEs behind. They'll probably still be there whenever I go back (and, thanks to Justin, I have a nice 1912 coming in soon).

Anyway, just wanted to share and let you all know what amazing powers y'all have! :D Thanks!
