New blade #7

Felt the benefit of the new blade immediately. The old blade was perhaps a shave past its best.

DFS only today. I continued my experiments with direction and went: nose-ear / ear-nose / up.

I couldn't find any residual slickness in the lather (odd) so my final pass and touch-ups suffered. I think this is the Cade's weakspot tbh and its a shame because everything else about it is good. Problem is though, that good residual slickness is crucial to a good shave. I do suspect that the slickness is heavily dependant on the lather you make but the sweet spot with Cade is tight, so miss it and you are going to suffer.

I had a bit of redness from yesterdays baby chase with the dulling blade so i am ok with DFS.

Lost another hair from the brush (#13)
Finished off with freshwood balm and A/S.

Ok. Not rubbish, not great. Just ok.


And thats ok!

Good question! I was thinking that myself. Specifically, that my 1st post 30DR shaves are going to be an oportunity to see the contrast between my previous fixed set up and the new.
To that end, i might see how changing just one thing works out. Perhaps the Blades first, as i feel that the 34c wants a sharper blade. Or the soap, to see if a slicker soap may be beneficial.


Or i could use my new RFB!

Stirling Single Edge Shavette September..... Blue version

Stirling Blu was at bat with the 'decked out in blue' Jayaruh 367 (yup, the stub end of my brush got to be a Louisville Slugger). The Blue Ming would never miss out on his namesake shave. No harm, no foul.

My first use of the Focus R28 Slim Al, decked out in blue. The ingenious blade holding mechanism is the forerunner for the design of the Focus Dynamic razor. Inside I used my shavette fav,
the Gillette Silver Blue.

The machined angle serves to provide the optimum blade angle as well as a slight skin stretching action. I loved the R21 Evolution shavette and how you can get to a lower angle, but I must admit that, so far, I find this tool to be a bit more efficient. The slight drawback is because a steeper angle is required it is easier to get a blade binkie. Not a problemo if you got your game on.

This is a tool manufactured for professional barbers and no doubt used for countless shaves. One barber commenting on his love for the durability and loading design has done thousands of professional shaves himself.

A 'light' splash of the matching aftershave was unable to draw the same comment from a coworker that the happy splashing did once upon a time. Something about smelling like a female service employee from the French brothel. Hah! Good thing I said that one 'after' getting a CT nailed on.



Really a great shaving device.
The very low weight took some getting used to, but not a deal breaker for me.
One does need a little more attention than with a thinner tool that works at lower angles.

I went back and looked at what I did. My first month I did a rule. Month two was mostly a rule, I received a new razor at the end of that month that I couldn't wait to try. The third month I did a focus with the same razor. I learned a lot those first three months.

Hello Friday, been waiting all week forva TGIF.
Another great shave with my plasitc printed TNNSER Group razor.
Always a new blade, 3 passes on the face, 3 passes on the head, smooth and clean.
Not much blade feel for a razor that shaves so close, light for a great head shave, all around shave goodness.

Yea, it is an opportunity to build on what you have learned. I think i will progress away from the rule slowly, one thing at a time (blade) and see how i get on.

Fat Friday detour from a Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
Blade: Polsilver SI
Razor: Gillette 195 Super Adjustable (Fatboy)
Brush: Omega 10049 boar
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

I got out the ceramic tin of The Fat last night to set it out for this morning. There was just a small chunk of soap remaining that I was hoping would be finished off today. It was dry and I tried to press it down and it cracked into a bunch of tiny pieces. The more I pushed the more it separated. So, I got out the new refill puck that was in the wings and grated and pushed it into the container. The previous puck yielded 106 shaves. So I started a new one today and look forward to however many wonderful shaves it will produce.

Everything worked together as it should. Very nice shave in the end.
