It is going to be a GEMonday for me today, I really enjoy this GEM junior bar lather catcher and it's a easy going shave unless your hand technique is off that day. Razor: GEM junior bar L.C -mfg 1907 Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (2) Soap : Colonel Conk Bayrum Brush: Razorock Noir 400 Pre-shave: Warm wet face cloth for 40 sec X 2 + Aloe Vera Gel Post shave: Alum block + cold water rinse Post shave: FINE fresh Vetiver + witch hazel +Balm Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + Alum block indicates nothing = Have some great shaves!
1914/'24;Shovelhead, no shims. I don't like the handling of the 1914 but it delivers a better shave for me. With a different handle it wouldn't be close at all. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
What type of handle were you thinking of trying on the 1914, I have to agree it is a nice smooth razor to use? Have some great shaves!
SOTD Stirling SEptember 16th Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap RazoRock ECO Crown Super Stainless WWB Talleyrand (26mm, Frigate Class) Stirling Deep Blue Sea soap and AS Half way through the month and I finally got in my first SE shave. The RazoRock ECO doesn't use a typical SE blade though, instead is uses ½ of a DE blade. The head geometry of the ECO makes it's feel like a traditional SE in use, however. I was able to shave with a very shallow angle with the ECO. Additionally head of the razor does not introduce any bend to the blade instead it is clamped flat in the head. Despite this, and having some significant blade reveal, I didn't notice any chatter and the blade felt quite stiff, much like a traditional SE. The Crown blade struggled a little bit on the first past with my heavy weekend growth but after that was quite smooth and after three passes the baby was in the house! My face felt really good after this shave. Being able to shave at such a shallow angle really keeps any irritation at bay. I finished off with a healthy splash of the DBS AS and I'm feeling and smelling like a million bucks on this fine Monday morning. Have a great day my friends! Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
My two favorite handles are my 3" Karve and ATT Atlas , both of which I like on my 1924 with the 10-32 set screw Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
The Streamline handle and a Star DE handle work very well for me in the 1924. If I remember I'll try one of your suggestions next time
Schick Type D, Schick II Twin blade, shave 4. I had to try this since unless I am doing something wrong I can open the spring drop out the blade and reload it without ruining the blade edge on this razor. Shave was a smooth BBS finish not glass like with personna blade yesterday but it performed exceptionally. Shave was also a bit smoother and milder with the twin blade. Overall a winner combo and proof that a twin blade will work in a Type D. I will try this again tomorrow with the E2 with the movable spring.

Great shave with a Daily Double: An Enders and a British 1912 Ever-Ready. The Enders was sporting a "Chick" blade and the Brit had a GEM SS PTFE. Each got a pass (1st to the Enders, 2nd to the ER, and a quickie clean-up went back to the Enders). I ended up feeling dolphin-smooth and really enjoying both razors!!! The lather came from Geo F Trumper's Lime Cream and was whipped up perfectly by a Jayaruh #270 brush. Awesome shave today!
