Not sure. I only use a bowl once a year or so.

I watch the bristle if the brush as I load the soap. I can see the soap work it’s way up the knot. Overtime I know by site when I have more than enough soap to start face lathering. Then I take my time adding water as I face lather. Assuming the water is normal and not overly hard. In my opinion most all problems with lather rotate around one of two issues; not enough soap or not enough water.

I both face and bowl lather, whatever mood strikes me. I'm a counter. Thirty second for most soaps regardless the lathering technique. So for me I'm going to say they are equal.

One problem (benefit?) I have is that my water is as close to pure as can be safely distributed by the water company. In fact, they add some hardness to stop the water stripping ions out of the piping. In effect, it is so soft it could lather itself. Sounds great until you use a soap which lathers easily at which point you get stuck in a battle of suds.

I had that issue at the start with Cade, keeping a lid on the lather thus i switched to dry loading which helped immensely.

Still going with the Hawk and today's Stirling product is this pleasantly scented soap. 3 passes later, I was quite smooth. Finishing with this AS brand is fast becoming a favourite thing to do.
    Have a great day all!

Very nice, Jim! I'm not a huge Bay Rum fan, but I do enjoy the Stirling one...maybe time for another sample size.
Is that Maseto a 'frequent flyer' in your rotation? I don't recall seeing it very often.
Love the photo again, Perry. The Hussy is such a unique looking razor...
I'll take your word for it on the Williams, Danny, but the Type A is super cool looking!
Another beaut of a CH2, Clint. Not sure which one of yours is my fave- the Jade, the Red, the Blue... all so nice.
Nice effect, Jim! I hope the week is going well at the new site.
Agree 100% on the Proraso Green scent, Joe. Very underrated.
Awesome, Joseph! I am really digging Lime scents right now, I need to try to find one of those vintage ones.
Another stunner, Gary! The colour enhancement has fast become your signature look.
