great lc.i have seen that dark spot on the end of many common bar handles.must have been a popular place to hold the razor in those days when they were used regularly..kind of a history spot..,worn plating..

Don’t hate man yeah I know I wish I had a better condition one and all that good stuff but it does show patina and has a rustic nostalgic look to it and to be honest when I shaved with it, it kind of smelled like old PENNYS!!! If I wanted too.... do u think razor emporium could re-plate it? Just wondering but if I was to replate a razor I would replate my 1964 Gillette slim adjustable =]
zero hate implied at all.i love the look of razor found as they are.my daily drivers aren't that shiny..congrats..enjoy it as it is..razor emporium will sell you a replated slim in their razor section.they can replate your new lc as well,but there are other options as well..

Got some new gear lately and always wanted to try the Proraso Red soap-new tub(I have the Proraso red A.S), when you first open the tub it has a weird fragrance but what I did was scoop some into the lather bowl the night before and boy does it smell close to the Prorazo Red Aftershave but not as strong by the morning. Proraso Red lathers reasonable well with my new Yaki tuxedo knot.(i'm spoiled with nice shave gear lately) Razor: Gem Damaskeene open comb, MFG-1912-15 (very nice lower mid aggressive razor) Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (3) Soap; Proraso red Sandal wood Brush: Yaki tuxedo 24 mm (soft with good back bone) Pre-shave: warm wet face cloth on face for 40 seconds X 2 + Aloe vera gel Post shave: Alum block + Cold water rinse Post shave: Proraso red sandal wood lotion + witch hazel+ Nivea balm Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + Alum indicated no irritation= Have some great shaves!
