Yeah, that's actually where I hijacked that picture link. I'm really anxious to see the old girl flying some day... if I win the lottery I know where I'll be sending a modest financial gift.
I always like the Black Widow as well. I didn't know they were trying to get one going again. Good for them, but it is hard to believe that there are only 4 left in existence.
Unfortunately with only 742 built, according to wiki, I'm really not too surprised thats all thats left. It would be great to see one fly again.
We used to get a stop over of several B17 and B24 bombers each summer in Spokane. My next door neighbor was a navigator on those planes in WWII. He used to go out to the little airfield where they'd stay for a couple of days and have a look through them. I miss seeing (and hearing) them flying. Wonder if they're still out there...
They were used as test beds for stuff like ejection seats. I mis spoke. the B 17, my favorite bomber... is called aluminum Overcast http://www.b17.org/ My dad knows a guy that is heading up a B-17 restoration.. I might get to take a flight when it is completed.
normally, I wouldn't think twice about having to clarify that I am, of course, joking, but nowadays.....I am kidding
mine says system unavailable. I just tried it again.. I hope it is not the Feds again. Grrrrrrrr You do some work for one Foreign government and they never let you live that down.. Well night all.. have to be up a little early in the morning.
Good night Cal... and good night everyone else...I'm off to bed, hopefully they won't be stabbing each other up tonight after the bars close....that crap is getting old...
