I have noticed that i don't get nicks with carbon steel Treets, even if used with canned foam, which isn't as slick as the lather i make. I'll experiment with the Arko creams and Haslinger soaps after these 30 days, been thinking of trying Tabac as well as i like the scent. I like the Astras in my Feather Popular, but it is a little bit milder compared to the Merkur. Maybe i'll find a better match for it.

Showering works well as a prep, but i don't always have time for it. I have usually spent atleast a minute rinsing my face with warm water if showering isn't an option.

I will concentrate even more on technique and experiment with the lather.

Now I have to decide whether to gift my friends some Feathers or Voskhods. I don't want to upset @Terry or @NCoxSTL (actually I like rattling their cages :happy108:), so they'll probably get some of each. They need to know about Russian steel right up front...and my Doc friend will like the fact that Feather also manufactures surgical tools.

I think blades make the shave. I know others differ. I find my skin is to soft and rough for the uber-sharp blades and they can cause me problems.
Tabac is ok. I think it could be slicker, but you won't find anything better than your Arko Comfort.
How many shaves are on the Astra? I don't suffer a worn blade too well either.

Where is this "neighborhood"....Do you have a shaving item store near you(that is, a MAJOR one, like Stoylin,)?

Excellent shave, Douglas! It's too bad Folsom went out of business because I have heard only good things about their soap.

Sorry for his loss...I sure wish I could remember my Dad's shaving paraphernalia. I think he liked Mennen(Skin Bracer)and Old Spice. He like to use an electric shaver a lot. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
