    Ditto to both of these.

When we first bought our house (late 90s), the popular whiz bang add on (and great reviewed) coffee units lasted 1 or maybe 2 years. Got really tired of repurchasing, and started searching for better. That's what pushed me to a more manual process of French presses, then to pour over variations, as back then it was just wifey and I. Then the stuff hit the fan with the parents and moved them from Baton Rouge to DFW (Dad moving in with us). And the girls started drinking coffee every now and then. Needed more every morning.....

If the Black & Decker units would get the right temp at the exit spout....I'd probably be using them...they do last a long time. Technivorm Moccamasters are highly reviewed and on the SCA list, but 2-4x the cost of the Bonavita. For 1/2 the cost (of even the Bonavita), the pour over method does exactly the same coffee (to my taste buds), just not automated. The pour over process is like shaving to me, a little bit of 'me' time while I go through the 8-10 minute morning routine/ritual while the dog stares at me wondering why I'm up so early.

Back to your regular drill assisted lathers, popsicle shaving sticks and SE/Stirling/Safety September shenanigans!

Thanks for the feedback Blair! The real world experience beat my reading of the makers & sellers of the machine. I do keep my brewing system on the counter just to the left of my kitchen sink. An occasional dribble while pouring wouldn't be an issue. Rinsing the grounds basket and setting in the drying rack (to the right of the same sink) wouldn't require any change of not quite woke up habit. With previous brewing systems I tend to get one of two failures; brewing heater element gets coated with minerals reducing effectiveness, or broken glass carafe. Not much I can do about the dissolved silicates in my tap water, but the SS carafe sounds like a double upgrade for it's survivability and the heat retention to avoid continued cooking over a warming plate. So I'm up in the air over 1900 vs. 1901 for the basket retention, but going to hard consider the TS option switching from a long history of overcooked glass carafe brew.

A couple of side notes -

One button = YEAH! I don't set up my machine the evening before. Don't want another digital clock/timer complicating my life. Push button-> Make coffee is perfect. My current contraption is a Black & Decker with a control panel like a foreign auto dashboard. Four buttons, two lights, and a digital readout/clock that has never been set.

While I'm all for renewable resources like paper filters I've also used nylon mesh reusable filter baskets. I see several "Goldtone" types but an all stainless steel unit could be an upgrade!

I had a sample set a couple years ago, and while sample aftershaves are just that, it was enough to confirm I would make another purchase from Bill Neumann sometime. Have you seen their website?

Very nice report and shave Neal.

More great info Bill. Thank You!

Stirling Piacenza....there's A LOT of it being used here on TSD....y'all are bending my arm again, got to go look. Great report and shave Bill!

MWF was my 3rd purchase (after ToBS & Proraso) that taught me about post shave feel. Completely the 30DC'rs enabling. Now, if after a blade swipe, or a complete shave....a soap doesn't have that same smooth nourished face feel, it gets binned, set aside for a PIF, or a couple have been set aside for the rare SE/DE shave.

Ok. Ok. I'll join in the October MWF rule. :eatdrink047: But I'm going to break it once, maybe twice a week to use a favorite. :git:
