It seems like whenever I moan about the state of my straight edges, something happens to give me hope.
Today was such a day. :)
I did the following to this razor before shaving.
    1) 10-12 laps on a plain linen strop.
    2) 10-12 laps on the plain felt of my SRD strop
    3) 10 laps on the CrOx Balsa strop
    4) 10 laps on the FeOx Balsa strop
    ...I know, ridiculous, right?
    5) 10 laps on the CrOx linen strop (fresh paste)
    6) 30 laps on the SRD 3" leather strop
    and lastly!
    7) 10 laps on my Savin 2" leather strop.
    Phew!
Found a Dr. Mrs. Primo hair (mine, what's left, are useless) and tried the HHT. Pass!
    :happy093::happy093::happy093::happy093::happy093::happy093:
Made a super-slick, ethereal sandalwood lather with the PL10 (BEAST) and put this blade to the test.
Now, I only had 24hrs growth and that was after a true BBS with the '47 SS.
WTG, downward pass, both cheeks. DFS, mos def©
Neck work, shallow angle, some buffing.
Re-lather and XTG left to right; right to left.
    More chin work.
Upwards pass on both sides of the neck.
Final lathering: ATG cheeks, chin, neck.
Results: I can still feel stubble on my neck. 99% BBS cheeks and Jawline.
When I have such little growth, this is the absolute best I can achieve.
Mixed a few drops of the Meehan with the Stirling and massaged it in well.
Excellent sandalwood scent, indeed, best I have ever tried, bar none.

I think the rhodium would work on the SR, although there is definitely something about silver (if it weren't for the up keep). I like the gold Aristocrats, but I could see rhodium working well there too.

If you get rhodium, it is so easy to car for, the razors almost demand to be used regularly.

West Indian Bay leaves have a scent that can be similar to clove. Do you think you are interpreting that scent as clove even if no clove is there?

Great shave, Jim! Good luck with your tasks this weekend. Moving is very stressful! I hope everything goes well.

Thank you, Charlie. I had to sign some forms agreeing to take possession of the guns again within a 3 month window, or else I would be forced to forfeit my Texas driver's license. There was some language about tar and feathers followed by parading around in a sandwich board, but I didn't read that part too well. I had to claim religious exemption to let the adult beverages be gone that long.

    What were they originally?
I would keep them as they were if possible. Replating can apparently change the shave and certainly, it changes the character and removes the history.

If you just want shiny, i believe that scoring one in good nick on ebay is cheaper.

If you are set on replating, i would go with what they are at the moment. If you are switching, i would go Rhodium. You can't replicate factory gold plating properly. The laquering is nr impossible. The beauty of silver is in its pattena and keeping them from tarnishing can be an effort. Rhodium is awesome. Looks fab and bombproof if not done too thickly (its brittle)

    Can we have pics?

Ah.."similar to" clove, eh? Well, I'm sure other Bay Rums have more clove than TSD, but I guess I base my reaction to comparing it to my other Bay Rum(Stephan) which does claim a clove scent but it's neatly mixed in with other scents thus there's less of a clove feel(to me anyway)than that of Joanne's.

Thanks Patrick! I like the Rockwell blades because I can get at least 6 shaves/blade w/o a problem. They are intermediate aggressive, but they do the job for me.

Thank you guys. At least for me Monday tends to be the most drama filled work day. Honestly this month has been a month full of Mondays. At least the weekend is near and September is in the record books.

Sounds like my cup of coffee. I’m an espresso drinker, like my coffee dark and a little bitter, kind of like me. I have Jura.

    Hmmmm I miss corn bread.

I have had a couple of razors replated as well. I know some people worry about damaging the history of a razor but honestly if its screwed up enough to need replating I don't see the issue. Unless it is a hard to find item it is cheaper to buy a better example or score on that has already been replated. I know @Boojum1 has had different razors replating with different finishes. He has a rose gold one that is gorgeous. I would reach out to Mark and ask his opinion.
