You really took away our clues in that pic to try and get any closer than what Alex shows on his website.. The Tail, Grind, Scales, and general "Shape" of the razor helps get closer, keeping in mind it is all a WAG but after you see enough of them you get better at getting closer to the date
I remember reading somewhere that on Torrey's if the writing was straight on the tang it was a sign that the razor was pre-1900 and if it was arched it was post-1900. Judging from the wear on yours and others with the straight text I've seen this seems to hold true. Mine has the arched text meaning mine is from the post-1900 era.
My #136 was advertised in 1909 periodicals. https://books.google.com/books?id=7...g#v=onepage&q=torrey razor 136 razor&f=false
Sweet! I'd love to know that info about my #199 It's by far my best shaving razor and seems to hold a SWEET edge! Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk
One of my most prized possessions is the Torrey you gave to me for the price of honing it, when I sent you my Rattler that ended up being too far gone for restoration. Plus, you slapped together a set of custom scales in purple, my favorite color! The Torrey is an awesome shaver!
